UW -8

UW was plagued with turnovers and fouls early on, and that's what really helped the Pilots get out to an early lead. Looking for Brockman to keep dominating the inside and UW to pull away late.

reason I took portland is because they are hanging with them in the paint drawing fouls. Washington could get into foul trouble very easily (they already are). Or else I would be all over Washington with that spread. GL Though :)

Took Portland plus the 8. Initial reaction was to take Washington, so I faded myself and took the points.

UW doesn't look they have changed from their undisciplined ways. I really thought UW would come out more focused because if they are a tournament team like a lot of Pac 10 guys think they can be they have to win this game, no excuses.

On the wrong side.

Just got back from the game before making this post. Easy 76-25 win over Miss Valley State, and I obviously loved what I saw. The defense is still there even without the true lockdown defender that Kyle Weaver was for us last year.

Freshman like Marcus Capers, DeAngelo Casto, and Klay Thompson should replace the points that Low/Cowgill gave us, but Weaver is a guy we will never be able to replace. It's going to be on the shoulders of Aron Baynes and Taylor Rochestie, who were great role players for us last season.

The team defense will always be there because of what Bennett brings to the table, but it's going to be interesting to see who steps up for us when we need a big bucket down the stretch of games. I would think Rochestie will be that guy, but he made his mark from the attention that Low/Weaver received. Unless the freshmen/other bench players step up for us we are going to have to win with defense. Fortunately for us the Pac-10 won't be as good as last season so hopefully we can sneak into the tournament finishing 4th or 5th.

Based on this game, it certainly doesn't look like UW has changed much from last season. I'm thinking that UCLA and ASU will for sure finish ahead of us, but I think we can beat out schools like USC, Arizona, UW, etc.

And I'm going to miss Apples for sure. I might hate UW, but I loved watching Appleby throw up 10 3's a game.

Yeah Brockman just bricked 2 ft's I think the only shot at 2nd half is OT now....UW had the lead I thought they would build on it but Portland is ascrappy bunch...I was just looking at the lines for tomorrow and have to do some research I know that Rutgers isn't great but they are getting 4 from Delaware....Is Delaware supposed to be good or something.

This UW team hasn't changed at all. Still playing horrible defense, relying on Brockman to do everything, and still shooting a pathetic FT percentage (17-28).

If this continues the next few games I'll be fading them big time come Pac-10 play, especially on the road.

Congrats to Portland 2nd half backers. I really thought this UW team would come out with a different mindset 2nd half, but they didn't. Still the underachievers they've been the past two years.

why did Brockman shoot a 3 when they had a chance to tie. F'ing stupid.

I don't get this team at all.

All offseason long they were criticized for not being able to defend a lick and not being able to hit their free throws at any time during the game. So what do they do to open up their season against WCC Portland? Give up 80 and shoot 19-31 from the line. This team just hasn't changed at all, and if I'm a UW student/alum/fan I'm seriously questioning if Romar is the coach of this team. The guy can recruit no doubt, but his teams have been consistently undisciplined.
