The Utah State Aggies haven't faired to well against SEC opponents with a record of 1-13 straight up but although most will look at that and stay away from them, this is a different Utah State program. The Aggies have been on the rise the last few years and recent results against the SEC have proven that with most of those losses by a touchdown or less. Those losses were also against tougher SEC opponents whereas the Volunteers have been dominated by teams in their conference and are considered just a average SEC conference team. While Tennessee is in the powerhouse SEC conference, they are not a LSU, Alabama, Auburn etc.
Tennessee has won their last 19 season openers at home but not discounting that they have "0" returning starters on the offense line and "0" returning starters on defense line this year. This inexperience on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball for Tennessee is something that shouldn't go overlooked and Utah State definitely has a distinct advantage in the trenches.
The Aggies return 11 of their 22 starters from last season if you include Keeton and tailback Joe Hill, who both missed significant time with knee injuries. Keeton is a dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate this season and although his knee injury last season could slow him down a bit, he is still a dangerous duel threat.
This line opened at Utah State +7 at a few books and is currently sitting at +4/+4.5 depending on your book. I don't think you will need any points with the Aggies tonight but will gladly take them. I will also sprinkle a few greenbacks on the money line.
UTAH STATE +4.5, -110
$550 to win $500
UTAH STATE ML +170
$100 to win $170
