I don't hear the dogs barking. For that matter (just as a side note) I don't hear them barking in Oklahoma either. I think we are going to have a couple of blowouts this weekend.
I was at first cautious about wagering on USC last week when they hosted ND, but in the end I slammed the Trojans hard and it worked out nice for me. The TOP BCS ranked teams seem to be serious about playing 60 minutes worth of body slamming football to leave no doubt in anyone's minds that they belong where they are. That seems to be about 80% covers or so over the past several weeks in case you haven't noticed. I don't think this weekend will be any different.
USC and UCLA have known each other since Cain slewed Able. I've wondered over the past few years if UCLA would ever get their revenge against Troy but I ain't seen nothing of the sort. Well then, what's so different about this week? Palmer or Leinert? I just can't see Corey Paus having a breakout game against Pete Carrol's defense, nope. Last week I layed 24 on the Trojans vs. a ND team that spent 15 minutes playing testosterone football, then, having shot their 10-point wad, promptly proceded to fold up the tent and get buffaloed, which by the way,. hasn't anything to do with Colorodo this week. USC is a machine. That about sums it up. You can even get them at the bargain price of 22 pts. which is 10% off laying 24 against the Irish last week, who could probably wipe up the Bruins anytime they felt like it. OK so Paus had a good game against the Ducks one day a few weeks ago, but the Trojans are not Ducks. I also don't think the extra bye weeks will help the Bruins... try a bye season and maybe they could hang with them. I'll bet you USC gets 45 or better a lot easier than UCLA can score 20. So I'll bite and lay the wood.
I also feel the same way about the Buffaloes and Sooners. Colorado has had Nebraska at the top of their sh*t list for eons and just beat them. I remember all the years and all the close calls Colorado suffered before finally whupping Nebraska. They have been a good cover in that spot to say the least. So after last week, I think a let down is reasonable to expect. I also have to admire that other BCS team Oklahoma for being the other "machine" of the BCS. And just to weigh in on the Auburn controversy, I say let them prove they belong where they are by showing up there a couple-few years before giving the upstart Tigers too much credit. Say what you will about them as a quality football team but credibility comes from being consistant as well as whupping other teams. Witness LSU for example, basically a bunch of 2nd string burnouts left over from last year. OK should kill Colorado on Saturday.
So I don't see any reason why USC and OK won't end up colliding like a couple of runaway trains on Jan. 4th and mow down everthing in their path getting there. I'll weigh in on that one later.
