USC letdown vs Cal?

I'm going to the cal usc game Saturday noon start local time. I see the line rising from USC -4.5 to 5.5 with heavy juice in SC. Any chance of a USC letdown here after such a big emotional win vs Utah? Cal has the athletes on O to pick apart a suspect SC defense. But Cals defense is absolutely awful and a rejuvenated SC rushing attack means ball control and keeping Goff and co off the field.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

i like the points here actually.cal at home,as you see the numbers are just about as close as you can get so the points look good if you ask me,.....good luck,......after the spread records of 4-3 by both teams,1st is off.stats, and last 3 are def.stats

+1

USC is playing their collective asses off for Clay Helton. The young men absolutely love him, and he's galvanized the team.

Remember this name. Robert Jones 2. True freshman RB who'll shred Cal's rushing defense this coming Saturday.

I see USC winning this game by a minimum 10 to 14 points.

There will be some here who say Cal can match-up with USC talent wise. 100% BS. I can't wait to see Cody Kessler shred Cal's D and Shuster-Smith and Jackson running wild.

I concur with Albatross here. Trojans dominate Cal. Just as UCLA dominated Cal.

USC is back for sure under Helton. We're finally seeing what USC was supposed to look like this season.

mmmm...kool-aid flows strongly with young ones here, sees I. (Was that worst Yoda impression ever? Sorry...I'm very excited for 12/18.) Wait a little longer for more people to read and believe all the proclamations about the Trojans' resurgence and you'll get more than the 5' currently available. The fever is so rampant right now,you may even get 7! I doubt you'll need many points, tho.

USC will not have a let down but that does not mean they will win by just showing up. Cal has already shown some vulnerabilities but does have the home field advantage. On my average rankings USC comes in at 23.5 (the lower the better) and Cal at 43.5. Helton has got them motivated and the players may be playing to keep him as a permanent HC. They are talented and motivated, a good combination.

If USC gets beat it won't be because they let down. It will once again be their inconsistency throughout the season. Both offenses can be explosive, and the D not so very good. I think the total may be the play in this game.

I know this Cal team well and my record (mostly unposted) reflects it. Cal's OL will not be able to hold up to Usc.

Goff may be the best player on the field and doesn't deserve any of the criticism he has caught the last few weeks. Cal also gets a few starting defenders and the starting rb back from injury and has extra rest having played last Thur.

This season Cal is that team that can surprise and beat any team that is weak in the trenches regardless of the skill position talent but can't withstand those that can bully them on the lines. Also the staff is occupied with trying to protect the qb and to make adjustments to the man to man coverage and relentless blitzes they have been seeing and it may show with sloppy penalties and special teams. I suspect an easy Usc win is a high probability and played it that way. Almost fell outta my chair when I saw only -4'. Added to it at -6. I had it -10.

I agree with this. I have watched more Cal games this year (for some odd reason) than probably the past 5 years combined. Cal only stays in this game if they jump out to a dd lead early.

up to 6 now. Cal started hot but has cooled. USC started inconsistent but has played better without Sark. there has to be a letdown after the "upset" of Utah, but i'm not sure Cal is the team that can do it. USC was gifted a lot of points with turnovers against Utah and probably wont get the same with Goff.
And you would expect a bounce back after Cal sucked last week....but the Bears defense just isnt strong enough IMO to hold the USC offense at bay.

laying 6 on the road in conference is not something I'd recommend though. tough game to figure out. Expect U$C to get the W but can they win big?

I've also been watching a good amount of Cal this year and their D is actually improved from last year (which isn't saying much). They play 60 mins and don't stop throwing up or down big. They'll definitely be pumped up at home after being embarrassed by UCLA. Over is the safest play IMO, Goff should go score for score with USC O until USC actually gets a stop or two on D and likely pulls ahead by 10-14 late. I see a 48-35 type game USC winning or if Cal can pull the upset it will still be a 42-35 type game. BOL
