OK USC (and/or Pac 10 and/or Pete Carroll) haters its time to start assembling your put downs. Yes Bush was a bad boy. Yes the hoops coach used poor judgment. But you'll have to dig much deeper to be relevant in an argument.

Come on tell me why you think this yr, USC won't be in BCS game. 7 straight top 5 finishes. No one else even comes close.

At first glance this doesn't look to be USC's toughest season, scheduling wise. Ohio St, is the lone scare outside of the pac 10. With a new qb, that could be a tough hurdle. But if you've followed SC you know their losses often come in games they figured to win easily. The games that looked tough, often end up one sided wins. They beat Ohio St, or Auburn or Arkansas, but lose to Stanford. The sole exception, the only SC loss in meaningful game was Texas. The rose bowl heartbreaker. You know VY's last hurrah.

Following that logic, SC ought to beat Ohio St., but struggle vs San Jose.
 Just kidding.

Fight on!!

Not saying they won't make it, but if you think SC won't feel losing 9 starters on D you're crazy.

Pac10 is getting better thanks to Harbaugh, but the conference is steal weak overall. OSU is perennially overrated, but I'm interested to see what BoyWonder will do with a year under his belt.

Here's hoping that the BCS doesn't stick a Big Ten / Big 12 team in the NC over USC this time around.

I think it comes down to this 5 game stretch.

10/3 @ CAL
10/10 AZ
10/17 @ ND
10/24 OSU
10/31 @ UO

Off the cuff here is how I would asses their chances;

5-0 in this stretch: 60%
4-1: 80%
3-2: 30%

There are more unknowns on this USC team than there have been in years. Hard to bet against Petey though. He's proven it.

Not bad. Now he is half way to Bobby Bowden's NCAA record of 14 straight top 5 finishes.

How is the conference any weaker then say, the Big 12? Arizona currently has 21 players in the NFL, more then half the teams in the Big 12.

I don't care how many players they have in the league, they still can't win. Top to bottom, the Big 12 is much stronger than the PAC10 IMO. PAC10 is improving, but they still need to step up to 12 teams.

If all of you Big 12 fans out there think you are so good, do you want to explain what happened whenOkie State was given 17 points by Oregon and proceeded to get their tails kicked allover the Sun Bowl by Oregon? Do you want to explain why OU even showed up in Miami, just to get beat by Florida? Do you want to explain what happen in Dallas, when Texas Tech, the team that beat Texas, lost to another SEC team, a team that lost to a 4 loss SEC team whose losses included might Vanderbilt and Wake Forest? I'm glad nothing has changed in the Big 12. You can sure tell when you are in Big 12 Country. Just roll down the window and smell the manure. That is what Big 12 fans are expert at spreading.

I love arguments that go "Team A beat Team B, but Team A lost to Team C that lost to Team D and Team E and Team B beat Team F. Therefore Teams D and E are better than Team B and Team F."

You can't find any holes in logic like that.

No one has reloaded, especially on defense like USC has. Not one team has come close to replicating the year-to-year consistency of USC, I don't care how weak you say the Pac-10 is. Tebow's Florida team 2 years ago would not have won the Pac-10, they had to rebuild between championship seasons. The replacement of players has been remarkable. We will see little to no drop off on defense. The D-Line will be just as good and the LBs are right there.

14 straight top 4 finishes.

However 2 have only 2 national titles in that span is an disgrace. The first one was the Bobby Bowden lifetime achievement award.

They played only 2 games a year for about 14 years and would manage to lose one game in 13 of those years.

IMO USC was the best team last year, but since we live a CFB world that is comprised of complete bullshit, we will never know.
