I love the way these games are officiated. they call every little instance of traveling and fouls you can think of. I wish the NBA would do this.

Just inside half court. Definite bomb, lucky to fall, but fall it did.

would have been nice if ESPN showed the shot live instead of a crowd shot. How can they miss the last play of the game?

And the camera man missed it on the live coverage and on the replay they have only one shot of it. But a hell of a shot and needed big time.

Dirk Nowitzki hit a three diaganolly for Germany off the pass, to tie it 77 all. Allen Iverson hit one about 35 feet away, also a diaganol shot, with a defender in his face, twisting away on the release, it rattled through the rim harshly to pull out the 80-77 win for the USA. at least this is what I saw on ESPN NEWS.

Reportedly Bozzi, Germany didnt even have their best players. It only goes to show just how much Basketball really is a team game.

terrorism has watered down the USA's international spirit...

this doesn't mean anything, the USA still would destroy any country or for that matter an international AllStar team..

Basketball is indeed a team game, a concept the NBA has completely abandoned. Italy and Germany as well as Argentina, Spain and others still play a team game, unfortunately the NBA has changed the concept of team game to a show, every game is a show, every player is a showman and the whole league is easily comparable to the WWF....3 out of every 5 baskets are either dunks or layups...

I hope this "dream team" is taught a lesson...

Simmons is right, the USA has no shot, they may get out of the first round because of weak opposition. The big weakneeses will show up against the strong teams. This team just doesn't have what it takes to beat the best international teams playing by internatinal rules, it's not going to happen.

I just came back home from the game. It was nice to watch and the crowd was into the game. i had some good seats near the sideline.
I still think that the US team did not play as a gold medal contender. Whenever our team played a tough def the US team was in trouble. Your team won by a lucky shot. Iverson was the guy the crowd was supporting during both teams and everybody thought he was the guy who deserved hitting the game winner. Despite the fact our team played without two starters they gave your team a good fight. Dirk played a great game in front of his crowd and he is the guy everyone was rooting for. Keep in mind that the way he thinks of playing basketball is totally different to the way most of the US players are doing. He loves playing for out national team and he does not mind wastingsome days of his holidays for playing with his friends in the team. That is exactly what your guys have to learn. It should be a honor to play for a national team. The US team is not a team for me. They made some nice shots but the way they are playing is more like everyone wants to be the superstar. That is why I can`t see them winning gold.
Forgott to mention: Have you ever heard of any scandals of Dirk? I haven`t. Maybe that is why other nations have real teams. Even Dirk does not feel like being a superstar when he is back home here in Germany. Whenever he is on TV in a show or talkshow or whatever it looks like he could be your neighbour and not a superstar earning millions per season.
It is the same for Sturm in hockey. During the olympics in Salt Lake City he said he wanted to play for Germany. So he played in the NHL, flew to Salt Lake City, played for Germany, back to San Jose, again to Salt Lake City etc etc etc. He did not mind being in a total stress during that stretch. All he wanted to do is playing for our team. That the real sportsman spirit and something i miss at most of the US players.
