I was definitely off on this one. I thought Pavel was favorite only because of his #16 seed but he definitely played like a seeded player. Haas is the play tomorrow.

Lose a 3rd set tie-breaker and lose the match.

Closer match than score indicated.

I will pass on Haas. A couple of doubts:

1. Career meetings 2-4 including a win by Grosjean in Germany. All old matches but fairly relevant, since they are both the same age and came on tour about the same time.

2. The first round from Haas was poor, given his form this year you would expect him to beat Sanguinetti in 3 sets not 5.

3. I backed Patience to beat Grosjean in round 1 at long odds. Grosjean often struggles against other French guys even when his form is good. He played a good game in round 1.

I see this as pretty well 50/50. In a match which is tough to call, I would take the dog but his US hard form has been poor.
