i read stuff in here and so many have so many allegiances that it would not matter what a candidate stood for as long as they had the (r) or (d) next to their name they are god.
i am not one of those people and i go very much back and forth. i am curious if i can get persuaded without the lame candy coated answers most people throw around in here which lack any substance.
despite what some might say about Bush not having been that bad of a president i see a country that is hurting, badly. i see sky high gas prices that the republicans, while they are known as the party that allegedly supports drilling domestically, who have had 8 years in the white house (not talking congressional election here) have not done anything to be proactive or reactive to keep us from getting raped by big oil (record profits being made regardless of what you say about their profit per gallon they are making more money than ever before, that you cannot argue with).
i see the industry that i am getting killed because of the high price of fuel and increases in food cost due to the ethanol subsidies.
i see us not having caught public enemy number one (Osama)... we caught saddam but not the guy we believe to be behind one of the greatest tragedies in american history(9/11).
so if you tell me that the stuff i have mentioned is all on the congress then it does not matter the president i elect and if you tell me it is on Bush than why would i hitch my wagon to that same party once again?
simply because Obama is worse?
but i can't vote for Obama simply because he is different either. he is for higher taxes, although my personal income tax would be lowered based off of his proposals (this holds true for both candidates).
guy has a lack of traditional experience. his beliefs on abortion could not be further from mine (but that is not changing in this country and it is all election year gum bumping).
i don't know whether ending the war as fast as he may propose is a good idea or not now that we have screwed the country (Iraq) up as poorly as we have.
i go back and forth on universal health care because it is an extreme handout but some people need/deserve the leg up while most i will agree don't.
essentially when electing a candidate you are choosing b/w two parties whether you like it or not. the case for the republicans is evident in the past 8 years. they have had their guy in the white house. the case for the democrats can't simply be that he is different although i lean hard that direction because i see a lot of the country (the middle class especially) trending towards a dangerous direction.
anywho bash away or whatever but i would be interested in serious conversation.
