Floyd Mayweather continues to be a target for MMA fighters as he trains for his much-anticipated boxing bout against Manny Pacquiao.

Conor McGregor is the latest UFC star to take a jab at Mayweather, following in the footsteps of Ronda Rousey, who recently visited Pacquiao at his home to again pledge her support for the underdog prior to his May 2 megafight against Mayweather.

McGregor, never one to shy away from bold and controversial statements, was asked about Mayweather in the latest issue of Esquire magazine. And he pulled no punches.

"I don't look at a man who's expert in one area as a specialist," McGregor told Esquire. "I look at him as a rookie in ten other areas. If you can box, what happens if I grab hold of your legs? If you put me face-to-face with Floyd Mayweather -- pound-for-pound boxing's best -- if I fought Floyd, I would kill him in less than thirty seconds. It would take me less than thirty seconds to wrap around him like a boa constrictor and strangle him."

and Clayton Kershaw would strikeout LeBron James in about 10 seconds.

It is an entirely different sport. Not sure why he is bragging about being able to beat another top athlete in his sport.

Note to Conor...there are others out there who would kill you in less than 30 seconds also. Being an MMA fighter means jack shit when rules are out the door. First off, you have to get the man down. I've seen the worlds greatest take down artists not be able to take down an average Joe. There are so many variables that its impossible to know what would happen.

In his weight range?

I dunno about that, I'd imagine he would F up all but like 3 people in the world in his weight range if they didn't have a weapon on them or if they didn't fight really dirty right from the jump.

An elite wrestler can takedown some bro at a bar pretty easily

Great analogy. It's stupid to even comment on it.

MMA fighters have some sort of jealousy over the paycheck they get vs. big time boxers (I still don't understand how Mayweather gets $30 million a fight - or whatever ridiculous amount - vs. an MMA champion making way less than $500K/fight).

http://mma-manifesto.com/ufc-fighter-salary-database/salary-main/ufc-career-fighter-earnings.html

According to this list, only 66 fighters have made more than $900,000 in CAREER earnings. Only 51 have made over $1 million. Only 21 have made over $2 million.....and only 1 fighter has made over $5 million in career earnings. Hell, a good middle reliever (MLB) makes $5 mil/year!

I disagree totally....there are so many aspects of fighting. MMA has rules and those rules stick in those fighters head. There are so many other fighting systems out there that he would be totally outclassed in speed and power. UFC is more and more becoming 100% marketing and bullshit. It's nothing like it was when real men fought several times per night and fought guys who were 50-150lbs heavier.

Guys are way more skilled and well rounded now. A very high majority of the time the bigger person is just going to win at that level.

I dunno about Connor but your avg UFC champ is 1 of the best fighters in the world. The skillset they have just allows them to exploit weaknesses of non-MMA guys pretty easily.

What discipline of fighting do you think would be superior to a well rounded mixed martial artist?

Krav Maga...Russian Systema...Muay Thai...and Boxing (Yes Boxing)

Too bad Conor is becoming a class clown...

Yeah you are underrating the well rounded ability of an MMA fighter.

I don't think MMA is the most aesthetically pleasing fighting discipline to watch but the well roundedness just would allow someone like Cain Velaquez to be able to exploit anyone in other disciplines of similar size. A boxer or Muay thai expert he can takedown, he has training in ju-jitsu and can avoid subs from the ground (you really don't see many subs from the bottom in UFC anymore because once you train for it then it really isn't that difficult to avoid)

Just something as simple as wrestling ability and being able to take someone off their feet and out of their comfort zone nullifies a lot of skill immediately. It might not be enjoyable to watch but it is what it is.

Another UFC idiot who doesn't understand the difference between the two sports.

Put on the gloves with boxing rules & Mayweather makes mincemeat out of them all...
