I believe the ratings took a big hit in 2017, after a couple of solid years 2014-2016. The Fox events had some of the lowest ratings ever and the ppv’s were down as well. Lack of activity from stars, a couple last second pull-out’s from main event/co-main event fighters didn’t help, but there’s more to it than just that, I suspect.
big ones for me were doping, saturation of the product, and them pushing women's fighting on all the cards.
fox did a greatest mma of all time series and aired it on one of the many weeks that jon jones got busted which made something like 6 or 7 of the top 10 of all time found to be dirty at some point in their careers and another, GSP, with major accusations from others on the list.
the saturation would have been a bit better if it wasn't trotting out dan henderson, ken shamrock, and mark hunt in some sort of old timers league but they were putting these guys on major cards. i think hunt was just on one a few weeks ago in fact. how the hell am i supposed to care about a card with some 40-something that wasn't any good in his prime?
and I don't get the women's thing...no entertainment watching a couple hideous men with vag beating each other up with limited skills
