I love Lyoto but Evans at +170 has some nice value. Machida is a great fighter but a great wrestler like Evans could put him on his back fairly easily. Evans also has some crazy power and is not the type to rush in wildly and play into Machida's game plan. Line should be a pick.

The line should be machida -500. Hes never lost a round. Evans lost the first round against salmon, bisping, liddell, ortiz, griffin.

Machida will outpoint rashad easily.

Evans is way overrated right now.

Liddell won 2 rounds against him!!

Griffin wudda beat him if he didnt break his hand.

Tito and bisping basically did beat him.

All in on machida.

I think rashad and hughes will win. Will probably parlay the two.

If this fight goes the distance i think it will be very boring and machida will get the decision. But rashad is very quick.

Has Machida's chin been tested? I haven't really seen any of his fights.

He's been hit hard a few times but not with a shot like Rashad can deliver. When he gets hit he tends to clinch who is bad news against a wrestler of Rashad's caliber.

Lyoto has faced one wrestler in his career in Tito and was almost submitted. Rashad is much better at wrestling and submissions and has much more power in his hands. Machida has faced a lot of strikers and undersized fighters. Not saying he's not a great fighter but he has never been tested like Rashad can do.

this goes longer than 2/3 rounds, rashad`s in trouble,imo...the only reason for the tito draw was because of a point deduction and tito`s cardio is worse than rashad`s(and both are sub-par).....

in a tactical fight,i see machida wearing rashad down and maybe stopping him in the clinch with silva-style knees...

using machida in a par...not willing to lay better than 2-1,though...i think rashad CAN win...he can land the big shot early...or lay on machida...but he hasn`t really wrestled all that much...surprising considering that`s his linchpin...and i think after stopping liddell so dramatically,he`ll be even more inclined to stand with machida......

as for hughes/serra,i think serra should try and make it a stand-up fight...i think he`s the bigger puncher...and maybe tougher...i think hughes is diminished considerably considering the beatings he`s taken recently...
can anybody point me toward a video in which hughes stands up in a fight for an extended period of time?....i can`t recall seeing him in a prolonged stand-up battle....i have no idea whether his stand-up is any good...

when was the last time hughes won a stand up fight?...

thanks...and g.l. to all..

Sphincter... you have to remember the reason that Rashad was standing with Liddell wasn't because he felt he had something to prove. It was because Greg Jackson and company spotted a hole in Chuck's defense they thought they could exploit. Evans barely punched back for nearly 2 rounds before landing that big shot so it's not like they went in expecting to consistently beat Chuck standing. He waited for his moment and landed the big one. Against Machida it's much tougher to find a hole standing and you can expect him to figure out the best way to get inside and put Machida on the mat. Evans has improved his standup a ton but I firmly believe he'll only use it to set up takedowns in this fight.

Disagree.

What does facing 1 wrestler and almost getting submitted have to do with each other? He out wrestled Tito. He threw/pushed him down many times when Tito shot, and he even took him down. Lyoto looked very good against stuffing the takedown and wrestling in general.

Sure Evans is more explosive than Tito was at that stage in his career. I am not saying Evans can't take Lyoto down, he most likely will at least once. But I don't think he can win the fight with his wrestling. I doubt you will see Evans take Machida down at will. Machida is a very strong guy. I would say just as strong as Evans, I am talking about total strength, not punching power.

In the end I see where Machida can win in 2 ways. UD or a TKO/KO. I only see Evans winning on a KO/TKO. I don't think a sub is in the picture. And even if it was I could see Lyoto subbing Evans before I see Evans subbing Lyoto.

I wouldn't bet the fight because I see little value in Machida. This is a tough fight to call, but those are my reasons why I think Lyoto is the pick. But i could definatly see why someone would take Evans at that value.

Thanks for responding but I think Evans' wrestling in 10x better than Tito's. Tito dominated the sport when people were not used to his style but then the game passed him by. Evans has legitimate wrestling credentials while Tito just caught people off guard by evolving that facet of the game before anyone else knew how to defend it.

PS you are from Western NY and Evans is from Niagra, NY. Traitor!

Then I think best way to decide is to watch their fight IMO . Rashad only managed to get Tito down with 15 seconds to go when Tito had zero energy left to defend it . If anything Tito has better wrestling , not flashy slams but he is relentless working for takedowns at the cage .

Tried to root for him. Seems like a humble guy when he talks and how he came up. But the whole nipple and nut grabbing turned me away.

Should be a good fight.

Serra is just so short. Machida is a pretty big guy, his strength is underrated by many because of his style.

Just getting home now. Good call on the fight. At least I got Sonnen in.

There is a difference between offensive wrestling and takedown defense that I think is getting confused here. Tito obviously has better takedown defense but I think Rashad has much better takedowns.
