We’re so incredibly close to the start of the college football season. This usually means that when news pops up, it’s either because a team released its depth chart and it was remarkably vague in the way it addressed position battles – for example, the way Alabama handled its quarterback situation today – or because something bad happened to a player, either because of an injury or because of some kind of disciplinary issue.
That second one occurred early on Sunday morning, when UCLA defensive back Ishmael Adams was arrested for allegedly stealing a cell phone from an Uber driver, according to the Los Angeles Times. The report says that Adams, who has started 26 straight games for one of the teams that is projected to contend for a Pac-12 title and a spot in this year’s College Football Playoff, has been in custody since 3:36 a.m., and is being held on $100,000 bail.
Adams was an All-Pac 12 selection in 2014, along with being the team’s top kick and punt returner. UCLA released a statement to the LA Times, saying “We are aware of the situation and continue to gather information. As this is a pending legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.” Adams will appear in court on Tuesday
