Can FSU score 25? UAB's defense is not Miami's,nor is it equal to the "Steel Shield" edition of 2001,but it is solid enough to keep this game within range, especially with Nix at the helm.

Hackney can make a couple of plays and Hayes is an excellent kicker. The o-line is big(avg 313 lbs), but will they be able to move the chains aginst FSU's D?

I am not a UAB fan in the least, but this looks to be their best team as they seem to better balanced. They were banged up aginst Baylor, but have had a bye week to get healthy and prepare. For the stats guys, UAB is 9-3 ATS as a road dog of 10 or more.

UAB +25

Get off the Tide bandwagon in two weeks. They will not win at Arkansas.

I agree UAB is not Garbage! They are a decent team with limited depth at their positions but this game is so early in the year I think injuries are out of the question UAB +25 is a good play!

Love UAB here. Huge letdown for FSU after losing the possibility of a National Title Run.

I love UAB in this spot; I had this game circled a month and a half ago, love it even more after what happened down in Miami last Friday. Bowden announced that Rix will remain the starter, and the team is very divided over this decision (Leon Washington made comments to reporters after the game last Friday.) The game is "sandwiched" between the Miami game and a revenge game against Clemson next week. UAB has a solid team with a multi-dimensional QB (anybody remember what Joe Hamilton used to do to the Noles D-even when they were at their best?) UAB has had a an extra week to prepare for this game, and you better believe that Watson Brown will be crowding the box to force Rix to beat them. Another factor to consider is the possible inclement weather: combine "Turnoversaurus Rix" with agua and footballs will be hitting ground like Jolly Ranchers dropping from a Mexican pinata. Also, for those of you with short memories, our last two games played in wet conditions were both losses where our offense was completely inept (our coaches have shown the inability to both develop a sound game plan or make adjustments)--Miami last year and Louisville the year before. It is painful for me to point all of these deficencies out, but I try to bet with my head and not my heart. We will be lucky to win by 10, much less over 3 touchdowns (or at all?).

NOLEFAN,

Lucky to win by 10? I understand the Miami loss was tough to swallow but 10 points? Our D will set us up or score some and i have the feeling the Rix will at least attempt to throw the deep ball. I will be there and am going to bet with my heart and hope your wrong and we handle them like we have at home in the past. If not I will drive home on 19 Sunday and think about how in the hell we will beat Clemson the following week.

Remember the days when when our D had more points through 6 games then the other teams O?

Poe, Don't get me wrong, I would like nothing more than to see the Noles have a breakout game. I would normally be up there, but my wife just gave birth so I will be missing the majority of the early part of season. UAB is not some patsy team, they are a little better than people may be giving them credit. Was our defense really that good or was Brock really that bad? I tend to side with the latter, although I think we have the potential to be good (I just wouldn't use a game like that as the ultimate litmus test.) Enjoy the game!

Like UAB & the points, fellas (or gals, whatever you are). BUT--this is just the type of spot where it wouldn't surprise me if Rix does the unthinkable....puts up incredible numbers! It would be just like him to pass for 400 yds. after giving away the big game last week. This guy buys when he should sell, stands when he should sit, etc. Makes me nervous to bet for or against him.

El Iguana, great point, he has come up with some big games when you least expect it. But if this latest loss to Miami affected the team anywhere near as bad as it affected me, I look for a MD 20/20 type of hangover in this game.

Rix is garbage in comparison to Hackney. Watch this guy throw the long ball, it's a thing of beauty. I'll take 24.5 here.

Low Tide:

Just wanted to drop by your thread and hope that all is well with you and your family. As I write this, Hurricane Ivan should be moving right through your area. Suspect you may not have power access but once you do, just wanted you to know that this oldman is concerned for your well being as well as all those who are currrently experiencing the wrath of Ivan the Terrible. Best wishes for everyone's safety.

LowTide and nolefan...appreciate the "unbiased" info on your "Criminoles" (as my Gator Coach friend says..LOL)...agree with you both that UAB is not that bad...sandwich effect with Clemsen next week (think Clemsen may have same symptom this week against Tex A&M but can't count on those Aggies for anything solid yet) and inability of Rix...think taking the mucho points ids the ticket here....
