WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State Colin Powell, citing conciliatory statements by North Korea, said Tuesday "a lot of pieces have come together" in his quest for multilateral discussions on Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program.

North Korea signaled willingness over the weekend to accept the U.S. approach after months of insisting on one-on-one talks with Washington.

Powell told a news conference that the quick U.S. military success in Iraq may have influenced North Korea's thinking on opening diplomatic discussions.

FSB, take it up with Powell...

One of the main reasons I don't like posting down here is you guys ALWAYS argue and NEVER discuss the issues, news stories etc.

I'm still getting those "gimme a high five bro" vibes here Frank.

You gotta learn humility.

Remember Churchill? "lose with dignity, win with magnanamity"

That's the way to make friends and influence people.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — The United States will talk with North Korea as early as next week in a meeting hosted by China, thawing chilly relations between Washington and Pyongyang over the communist nation's nuclear weapons program.

It will be the first time in six months that U.S. representatives have met face to face with North Korean officials.

Pyongyang had insisted earlier that any talks about its nuclear program must be with the United States alone, but agreed in recent days to allow China at the table. The Bush administration had repeatedly called for multilateral talks involving several nations in the region.
