Cleveland +1.09 over CHICAGO (1st 5 innings)
Anyone that wagered on the Cubs yesterday had to be kicking themselves for eight innings for even thinking about laying juice. Yeah, the Cubbies won in what was a minor miracle but so what. Again, this is a team loaded with .230 hitters that cannot be trusted as the chalk. They should’ve lost yesterday as a –1.50 favorite and they should lose today because they can’t score, they’re playing another AL team and they’ll be facing a quality pitcher in Cliff Lee. Lee is coming off a 3-0, three-hitter against the Cards and is now 12-2 in inter-league play with a 3.18 ERA and he’s 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA in his last five starts versus the NL. The Indians have dropped three in a row but they’ve scored 25 runs over that stretch and had it not been for a shaky pen they could have won all three. So, with that in mind and with Cliff Lee almost guaranteed to go five strong, the play is the Tribe in five. Play: Cleveland +1.09 in the first five innings (Risking 2 units). <o></o>

FLORIDA +1.37 over NY Yankees
Against the worst bullpen and team in the majors, at Yankee Stadium, the Yanks lost two of three to the Nats and scored seven runs in the three games when other teams have been scoring about 30 runs on them in a three-game series. Now this always-overpriced team will take its show on the road to face the Marlins and Sean West. The Marlins beat Jon Lester and the Red Sox yesterday in Boston and have won four of six. They dropped the first two in Boston but swept the Jays in Toronto prior to that. Sean West is an outstanding young pitcher with a ton of upside and five starts under his belt with some very impressive numbers to go with it. At home, West is 1-1 with a 2.60 ERA. In 30 innings he’s only allowed 18 hits for a BAA of just .165. West has already faced the Rays, Jays, Mets and Brewers and in New York he threw a four-hitter in seven innings of one-run ball. The kid has filthy stuff. In addition, the Marlins are 15-7 against southpaws and it’s not like Andy Pettitte has been killing it lately. Pettitte’s ERA has jumped from 2.96 on April 26 to the current 4.52. He’s been tagged for 23 hits in his last 16 frames and overall the league is hitting .293 off him. The bottom line here is value and when you wager against the Yankees you’re almost always getting tremendous value and this one is no different. Definite overlay. Play: Florida +1.37 (Risking 2 units).
