Who do you like better Maddux or the Rocket...Maddux has much less drama and does not have the gun for hire image...

Maddox is a finesse pitcher and Rocket is a power pitcher....he could afford to make more mistakes because he throws so hard. Maddux top speed in his heyday was what 88? He was throwing in the low 80's much of today. No doubt he benefited from the wide strike zone, but all pitchers did in that era.

My personal opinion is Maddux...Even though he constantly needs chap stick...I have never seen a Major leauge pitcher who has chapped lips like that guy

That screwball type pitch he throws that starts out just off the plate and cuts back in late is just sick (breaks from his left to right - opposite movement of slider). Ive seen no other pitcher throw this pitch with any kind of effectiveness and Maddox has made a living out of doing it.

That is actually a fastball that moves so much because of his grip. I watched him vs the Dodgers last week and he must have struck out 3 or 4 guys looking on that pitch. It is a thing of beauty.

When I lived in Vegas, got to see Greg and his brother pitch for Valley High School. Just knew he was something special. When pitching for the Cubs, his
Dad used to watch the games at the Bingo Palace, now called Palace Station.
Greg Maddux is all class.
