Umm I would hardly say the AFC is wide open. At best the AFC West is open and even thats iffy with San Diego there. Baltimore looks pretty decent, Pittsburg is still pittsburg and correct me if I'm wrong here isn't there a team from the Boston area thats sort of good. Oh and the Pats already beat the dogshit out of oakland in oakland this year.
This move basically ends Jason Cambells time in Oakland and makes their selection of Terrel Pryor useless. For that kind of money Palmer is your QB for the next 3 years minimum.
And BTW they probably couldve had Kyle Orton for a 4th round pick. I would do that way way way before giving up two 1st for a guy that hasnt been good in 5 years and hasnt played in over a year. Insane
Dunno about the Orton thing, thats heresay. Its not easy to deal in the NFL.
You don't think the AFC is wide open this year? Sure NE is the fav and Balt is very very good but after that what is there? SD is good but Gates seems dead, Manning is dead and Pitts D is getting older and is banged up. The AFC is weaker than it has been in years since the Pitt/Indy/NE/SD foursome has dominated it forever.
Not saying I love giving up a 1st but what were they supposed to do? Just let Boller sink and ruin their year? They've sucked since super bowl 37 and now are pretty solid. Might as well go for it....
I got my questions about Palmer, who doesn't....Overall though I think its better to gamble and do the deal.
