The 2013 pick is a 1st if the raiders win a playoff game this year if they don`t it`s a 2nd rounder

Umm I would hardly say the AFC is wide open. At best the AFC West is open and even thats iffy with San Diego there. Baltimore looks pretty decent, Pittsburg is still pittsburg and correct me if I'm wrong here isn't there a team from the Boston area thats sort of good. Oh and the Pats already beat the dogshit out of oakland in oakland this year.

This move basically ends Jason Cambells time in Oakland and makes their selection of Terrel Pryor useless. For that kind of money Palmer is your QB for the next 3 years minimum.

And BTW they probably couldve had Kyle Orton for a 4th round pick. I would do that way way way before giving up two 1st for a guy that hasnt been good in 5 years and hasnt played in over a year. Insane

Dunno about the Orton thing, thats heresay. Its not easy to deal in the NFL.

You don't think the AFC is wide open this year? Sure NE is the fav and Balt is very very good but after that what is there? SD is good but Gates seems dead, Manning is dead and Pitts D is getting older and is banged up. The AFC is weaker than it has been in years since the Pitt/Indy/NE/SD foursome has dominated it forever.

Not saying I love giving up a 1st but what were they supposed to do? Just let Boller sink and ruin their year? They've sucked since super bowl 37 and now are pretty solid. Might as well go for it....

I got my questions about Palmer, who doesn't....Overall though I think its better to gamble and do the deal.

I agree, if they want to take a shot more power to them. Personally i dont see them having a shot in hell of winning the super bowl but whatever. and even if they wanted Palmer ok fine. but two 1st rounders? crazy

Lets compair some other QB trades:
Jay Cutler was traded for a 1st, a 3rd and orton
Kevin Kolb was traded for a 2nd and cromartie
Matt Schaub (who was thought of as a future stud qb) was traded for two 2nd's.

Personally at this point I would take all 3 of those qb's over Palmer and all of them were had for less of a price

Here is my favorite part.

In the last year the Raiders have given up a 4th round pick to get Jason Cambell. A 3rd round pick to select Terrel Pryor and now two 1st round picks to get Carson Palmer.

So they have given up potentially two 1st's, a 3rd and a 4th round pick to aquire 3 QB's in the last year. And at the least they have given up a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd and a 4th.

BTW the Raiders also don't have a 2nd round pick next year so their entire draft next year will consist of one 5th and one 6th round pick. Way to build the team through the draft.

Like father like son. Same gene pool orchestrating the Raider trades.
Had to make deadline. Bengals pull a coup.

They gaveup way too much for sure. However in the NFL QB is so important that if Palmer is legit nobody is going to care what they gaveup.

We'll see what happens. Huey Jackson seemed awfully confident that Palmers struggles were more a function of Cincy and injuries than anything else. It was bizarre how confident he was, almost made me feel like he either has to be right or he is just damn insane.

I'm agree that this is prob the year to take a shot in your in the AFC besides NE who lost there last two playoff games you can't say theres another powerhouse balt, pitt, and sd all have thrown clunkers in and have big holes compared to years past.

I still think this deal is a scratcher unless they just thought orton blew and couldn't find anything else. Either way I'm assuming this means palmer is your guy for a pretty long time not to mention this writes off pryor

Thats the part that baffles me, Denver practically handed the Raiders kyle orton for a 4th rounder. They even went public with it. He is better then palmer right now imo. Palmer has been done since that surgery.

Funny thing, if Palmer starts this week vs KC, he will be going against Matt Cassel, his former roommate & backup at USC and he was best man at Cassel's wedding. Can you believe it, Cassel never started a game at USC as QB nor ever threw a TD pass. He backed up Palmer for two yrs and Leinert for the next two yrs. Now, Cassel has surpassed all former USC QB's currently playing in the NFL.
