My local grocery store must have Fucked up, big time.

They are selling fresh Butterball turkeys today for 29 cents a pound, so a 22 lb bird costs about $6. It was about 49 cents before TG.

Somebody must have added a zero to the order ? :ohno::missingte

You can't buy cat food for 29 cents a pound !

wife bought 1 more, she wanted to get more, but I said one is enough. I don't have enough extra freezer space for more than that. I have 1 extra freezer that is the size of a dorm refrig. Great unit, it's old as Hell, restaurant quality, goes to like 20 below.Best freezer, ever.

How the Hell is the store getting ripped off ?

If they screwed up, and have extra perishable product to unload at any price, they are the willing seller. They would let you buy as many as you want.

By screwed up, I thought you meant screwed up on the price. Did you ask the person at the register if it was a mistake or are you assuming they ordered way too much?

I had a grocery store that would give you a free turkey(16-20lb) if you spent $50+ on groceries in one shot before thanksgiving.

Hell, why not? I shopped there anyhow.

These turkey farms have been overrun with extra large and older birds. That's why you see these deals pop up. It may have been last years crop of birds and they need to clear some market space for this years birds. Also when a bird gets to a certain age they can do nothing with it. Those birds go to protein plants for use in dog/cat food. I have worked in the poultry industry and see this quite regulary every year. Get the deals while you can...
