PUNTER MLB
Here’s our best bets for the action ahead:
Boston Red Sox @ Tampa Bay Rays
We simply love the value on this total, regardless of the fact Chris Sale is at the mound for the Red Sox. Sale has certainly settled into his rhythm at the mound and is pitching terrifically on the road so far this season – but that doesn’t mean the Rays hitters won’t be able to get to him. The left-hander is 8-5 with a 3.10 ERA in his career against Tampa bay, with Wilson Ramos going 4-for-13 against him, including two home runs. Sale’s last start against the Rays was solid but the Red Sox still went down 6-4 in their season opener. Meanwhile, Jake Faria will be tasked with trying to slow down this Boston offence after he was smacked for eight runs against them in just 1 2/3 innings in April. Faria is 1-1 with a 6.14 ERA in four outings against Boston in his career and we feel that the form of JD Martinez and co. will be enough to push this number above its modest total. We have the Red Sox winning 6-3 giving us great value on the total.
Tip: Over 7.5 runs @ $2.13 (Crownbet)
Pittsburgh Pirates @ Cincinatti Reds
Jameson Taillon made light work of the Reds in his last outing against them and he’ll be hoping his hitters can continue to get to Matt Harvey while he takes care of his business. Since making the move to Cincinnati, Harvey is beginning to work his way back to full fitness but isn’t getting the decisions, or control, his new team would have hoped for. He gave up three runs in four innings in his last start against the Giants and hasn’t had a memorable time pitching to the Pirates in the past. The 29-year-old owns a 5.46 ERA in his career against Pittsburgh and it’s hard to see how he slows down this Pirates offence. The Reds are allowing 5.60 runs per game at Great American Ball Park this season and if the Pirates hitters can get to Harvey early this one should be straight forward for a team that should be valued at $1.60 at most.
Tip: Pittsburgh Pirates @ $1.70 (Crownbet)
