Here are tonights selections:
7 Units Seattle Supersonics +3.5 -104
A couple of stumbling teams meet in Phoenix. Seattle has won two straight, but is still 2-4 SU & ATS the last two weeks. The main problem is defense, as Seattle has allowed 101, 108, 101, 126, 72 and 102 points the last six games!!! They fell behind Milwaukee 39-23 in the first quarter before rallying for a 108-102 win. That's a nice comeback win but, again, that's a lot of points to give up early and often! Seattle is 5-5 SU & ATS on the road where it allows 98 ppg. Phoenix is in a big-time slump and still missing Amare Stoudemire (ankle). The Suns are 6-7 SU/5-8 ATS at home and they've lost 6 in a row (1-5 ATS run). The run has included losses to Orlando, the Heat and the Clippers!!! Like Seattle, the Suns are playing poor defense, allowing 111, 106 and 107 points the last three games. These teams went 4-0 UNDER the total last season, but with so little defense being played, this one shapes up as a high scoring affair.
5 Units Utah Jazz -2.5 -104
Andrei Kirilenko scored his season-high 30 points and had a career-high 14 rebounds as the Utah (R: 2-7 SU & 7-1-1 ATS) Jazz posted a 94-86 victory over the Allen Iverson-less 76ers in Philly. Matt Harpring, who scored 27 points, helped Utah shoot 52 percent (31-of-60). The Wizards lost their fourth straight to the New York Knicks 89-87. The Wizards were without injured guards Jerry Stackhouse and Gilbert Arenas, their two best players. The Jazz are strong on the road ATS where they are being outscored 98-92 ppg. Kirilenko might not be a Karl Malone clone but he's doing it all right now. The Wizards have lost 7 of 8 games and appear in need of a remake and a healthy Stackhouse and Arenas, so Utah has a rare opportunity to get a road win.
5 Units Memphis Grizzlies +3.5 -105
The Kings (R: 3-4 SU, ATS) couldn't be any hotter, with an 11-1 winning streak in hand following a 107-102 victory over the hapless Suns. Peja Stojakovic, with 36 points, paced the Kings. Sacramento made 9-of-22 shots and 8-of-9 free throws in the final 12 minutes while great defense limited Phoenix to just 3-of-26 shooting in the quarter. Memphis (H: 7-3 SU, ATS) is on a 7-2 SU run of their own. They had a demolition of the Nets 110-63 on Saturday, only to run into the Spurs' defense last night, in a 78-67 loss at San Antonio (so this is a back to back spot). Bonzi Wells scored 22 against New Jersey and Memphis shot 62 percent (44-of-71). The Kings on the road are mere mortals and give up an amazing 105 ppg while scoring 107 ppg, so the Griz are liable to score a bundle!!!

Phhewww...Is this is stinker. Orlando is 4-20 SU (5-18 ATS), while the Bulls are 6-16 overall. The main problem is a lack of interest in playing defense, as both teams allow 98 points per game!!! Despite the overall poor record, the Magic have actually been on a roll, winning three of the last four games (4-0 ATS run). Orlando is off a 105-102 road win at Atlanta, and seems to have found some long-lost confidence. They are not a great rebounding team, but have plenty of shooting talent, led by star Tracy McGrady. Chicago isn't even a good team at home (3-8 SU, 4-7 ATS) where the offense averages only 87 ppg. They are off a confidence-building 86-75 home win over Indiana, winning the battle of the boards 53-39. Marcus Fizer and Jerome Williams each had 15 boards!!! Orlando is playing better, but they are not a strong rebounding team and Chicago should have a big edge on the glass this game!!!
