MLB | Royals vs Rays
Play on: Rays -1½ -115 at 5Dimes

Jack’s Free Pick Tuesday: Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 (-115)

The Tampa Bay Rays have quietly gone 64-61 this season. They continue to play well here down the stretch and now send their ace to the mound to face one of the worst teams in baseball in the Kansas City Royals (38-87).

Blake Snell is having a Cy Young-caliber season. He is 14-5 with a 2.10 ERA and 1.015 WHIP in 23 starts this year, including 6-1 with a 0.97 ERA and 0.898 WHIP in nine home starts. He is also 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA and 0.571 HWIP in his last three starts coming in.

Glenn Sparkman is one of many young starters the Royals are simply trying out here down the stretch. He will be making just his second start after lasting only four innings against the Blue Jays on August 16th in his first outing.

The Royals are 8-40 as an underdog of +175 to +250 over the last two seasons. They are losing by 3.0 runs per game in this spot. The Royals are 11-45 in their last 56 games vs. a team with a winning record. Tampa Bay is 5-0 in the last five meetings. Bet the Rays on the Run Line Tuesday.

MLB | Orioles vs Blue Jays
Play on: Orioles +135 at 5Dimes

Toronto took the opener of this series last night to snap a four-game losing streak where the pitching was atrocious. The pitchers allowed an average of 8.5 rpg over that four-game stretch but the Blue Jays go a decent effort from Marco Estrada, who allowed three runs over 5.1 innings, but it was the bullpen that did its job. That was a bit of a surprise as their 4.50 ERA is eighth worse in all of baseball. Toronto is still 13 games under .500 for the season and while the offense put up five runs, going back, the Blue Jays are 12-30 in their last 42 games after scoring five runs or more in their previous game. Baltimore still possesses the worst record in baseball as its winning percentage is under .300 but the Orioles have a good matchup tonight to get back into the win column. Dylan Bundy gets the ball for Baltimore and he has shown flashes of what he can do but the schedule has not been in his favor. He is coming off a pair of bad starts as he allowed seven runs each time out, but those games were against the Yankees and Red Sox. Toronto got to him in his last game against the Blue Jays but in four previous starts against them, he posted a 1.38 ERA. Sam Gaviglio takes the hill for Toronto and he has been ok this season, but it has been a struggle overall. He has pitched well at home with a 2.70 ERA in eight starts but has just one win to show for it. He is going on four days of rest, but Toronto has lost his last six starts when pitching on four days of rest and he does not go deep into games as it is, and it has lost his last five starts overall. Play (913) Baltimore Orioles

Cardinals ML

This play just missed out on our premium card. The St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers face off on Tuesday night and in this game as big underdogs the Cardinals have the value.

On the mound for the Cardinals is Daniel Poncedeleon who is making a spot start but has been really good as a reliever.

He will probably have a short start, but the Cardinals bullpen has been good the last couple of weeks.

The Cardinals are the value play here.

MLB | NYY vs MIA
Play on: OVER 8 -102

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach MLB Game #927 Tuesday Free Pick OVER the total in Miami Marlins vs New York Yankees @ 7:10 ET - The Marlins wrapped up their weekend series with the Nationals in DC by erupting for 19 runs in taking each of the last two games. The Yankees also are red hot at the plate again as they exploded for 28 runs in a 3-game sweep of the Blue Jays in the Bronx over the weekend. Each team is on a 3-game "over streak" heading into this inter-league series and both lineups are loaded with confidence at the plate. Couple that with the fact that both hurlers should struggle here and you have the perfect set up for a high scoring game even though the posted total is low on this one. The Yankees Masahiro Tanaka gave up 6 earned runs in just 5 innings in his lone start versus the Marlins this season. Also, he enters this start having allowed 21 hits in his last 3 starts and those have spanned less than 16 innings of work. In his last two starts Tanaka is 0-2 with a 6.55 ERA. Miami starts rookie Pablo Lopez in this one. I know he has decent numbers on the season but he will feel the pressure here of facing the Yankees. Undoubtedly there will be more Yankees fans that Marlins in this game (huge crowd edge even though the game is in Miami). Additionally, Lopez is off a rough outing as he allowed 5 earned runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Per the above, you can see why I am expecting both hurlers to get "touched up" a bit in this one. Couple that with a low total and you've got a situation here that is absolutely worth consideration of making your wagering card early Tuesday evening. Free Pick OVER the total in Miami

MAKE NOTE: All Run Line/Total plays automatically list pitchers with the starters who are scheduled to go at the time of the wager, and I want you to be sure the following pitchers are the starters of record on your ticket when making your play: Chris Stratton and Steven Matz. If one or both of these pitchers is not going, this is a no-play.

Stratton is being recalled after a two-and-a-half week stint at Triple-A, where he says Ryan Volgelsong helped him make a significant mechanical adjustment. The right-hander is 8-7 with a 5.52 ERA in the Majors this season and last won on June 17. He'll have a tough time on the road, trying to silence a lineup that is hitting .297 over its last 10 games.

Meanwhile, Matz just allowed six runs last Thursday in his return from the disabled list. He chalked it up to rust, but I also know he is carrying a 13.17 ERA over his past four outings into this game. Don't be surprised if Andrew McCutchen - who has 14 home runs and a team-leading 53 RBIs in 122 games - gets to him and leads the offensive charge for the Giants.

Play this one high.

Let's play the Boston Red Sox tonight, as they'll get the best of the Cleveland Indians, and in this game I want you listing the scheduled starting pitchers: Shane Bieber and Nathan Eovaldi.

Before I get into the pitchers, let's talk about the Red Sox offense, which has led the team to a 7-3 run behind a .258 batting average and has outscored team by 19 runs in that span. Boston has a collective on-base percentage of .338, led by Mookie Betts' mark of .430, as the Sox know how to put base runners on, and know how to manufacture runs.

That won't bode well for Bieber, who has yet to face Boston in his Major League career. The right-hander is in after allowing three runs on seven hits through 4 1/3 innings against the Cincinnati Reds last Wednesday. With the outing, he upped his season ERA to 4.37. Now he has to face the No. 1 offense in baseball. That's trouble.

Instead, we count on Boston's power right-hander, who will try to continue his dominance at Fenway Park, where he won his first two starts for the Red Sox while allowing no runs over 15 innings. Eovaldi is 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA in his career against Cleveland, so confidence will be at a premium.

Take the Red Sox tonight as my free winner.

My free winner is going to be a blowout victory by the Chicago Cubs over the Detroit Tigers.

IMPORTANT: As you know every single Run Line play and Total wager will automatically list the scheduled starting pitchers at the time of the wager, and I want you to be sure the following pitchers are the registered starters on your ticket when making your wager: Kyle Hendricks and Jordan Zimmermann. If one or both of these pitchers is not going, this is a no-play.

Hendricks is in after matching a season high with eight strikeouts in his last start against the Milwaukee Brewers. The right-hander is 4-1 with a 3.78 ERA and 51 strikeouts over 47 2/3 innings in his past eight starts. He faced Detroit on July 3 at Wrigley Field and did not get a decision, allowing just three runs. He should have no trouble neutralizing this bleak lineup and pitching deep into this one.

Zimmermann, meanwhile, is 1-4 with a 5.96 ERA in five starts since the All-Star break. The right-hander has yielded a .978 OPS to opposing hitters in that span. Things don't get any easier tonight, as he faces a Cubs lineup that ranks second in the league with a .262 batting average and is damn near as good on the road, with a .257 batting average, which ranks seventh in the league.

Take the Cubs in a blowout here.

Your Tuesday freebie is the Yankees and the Marlins to land Over the total in their first of two from South Florida.

New York has played their last 3 games Over the total with 28 runs plated.

Miami has also played Over the total in their last 3 games with 21 runs scored.

Both April meetings in New York between the clubs landed Over the total, including a game that Masahiro Tanaka started, as the Marlins wound up scoring a total of 9 in that win.

Tanaka's ERA is over 5 for his last 3 starts, and the Over is 11-8-1 in his season starts this year.

Pablo Lopez will go for the Marlins, and the Over is 4-3-1 in his 8 assignments thus far this season.

Going to look for the runs to add up tonight.

Tuesday's comp play is going to be the Braves and the Pirates to land Under the total once again.

Last night Atlanta pushed back Kevin Gausman until tonight by calling up youngster Bryse Wilson who gave them 5 shutout innings in an easy 1-0 Under between the clubs.

That puts the Braves at 3 straight Unders, and Unders played in 6 of their last 8 overall, as the offense has just evaporated for Atlanta of late. Same can be said for the Pirates who have now played Under the total in each of their last 5 games and 8 of their last 9 overall.

Since Kevin Gausman has seen 2 of his 3 Atlanta starts land Under the total, and Ivan Nova has allowed 3 runs or less in 6 of his last 7 starts, I will look for the offense to stay dormant between these teams, and for another game to land Under the total at PNC Park.

1 Unit Bonus Play on Baltimore Orioles +135

Dylan Bundy has been a bright spot on an otherwise forgetful season for the Orioles. He has been at his best on the road where he’s 3-5 with a 4.14 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 10 starts away from home. And Bundy certainly enjoys facing the Blue Jays, going 2-1 with a 2.61 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in five previous starts against them. Sam Gaviglio doesn’t deserve to be favored in this matchup. Gaviglio is 1-6 with a 5.29 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 17 starts this season. He gave up 4 earned runs in 7 2/3 innings in his lone start against Baltimore back on July 20th. The Blue Jays are 0-5 in Gaviglio’s last five starts. Give me the Orioles.

MLB | Orioles vs Blue Jays
Play on: Blue Jays -139 at BetPhoenix

My Bonus Play is on the Tor Blue Jays at 7:05 ET. Kendrys Morales led the Blue Jays to 5-3 win last night over the Orioles by hitting two HRs. Toronto entered Monday's series opener coming off a 2-5 road trip and having dropped 10 of its last 14 contests. However, the MLB-worst Orioles (37-88) have played the perfect foil for the Blue Jays in 2018, as 56-69 Toronto improved to 10-1 against Baltimore in 2018, including 8-0 against the Orioles at the Rogers Centre. Baltimore dropped to 16-48 on the road this season and to 17-38 inside the AL East.

Dylan Bundy (7-11, 4.99 ERA) takes the mound for Baltimore and he was roughed up at home for the second straight time in Wednesday's 16-5 loss to the New York Mets, tying season highs in allowing seven ERs and 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings. That effort followed him getting ripped for a season high-tying eight runs (seven earned) over five frames in a no-decision vs Boston five days earlier (Red Sox won 19-12). Bundy is 3-1 with a 2.27 ERA in nine appearances (five starts) in his career vs Toronto.

Sam Gaviglio (2-6, 5.13 ERA) will get the ball for Toronto. Gaviglio is in the midst of a 15-game winless streak since notching his only victory as a starter this season back on May 25 he (team is 5-10 in those games). He takes the mound tonight having failed to produce a quality start in nine straight outings. Gaviglio suffered his sixth straight losing decision following Thursday's 6-2 defeat in Kansas City in which he surrendered five runs over 4 1/3 innings.

No 'prize' among these two teams, nor is either starter going to win any awards. However, while Bundy owns a 5.25 ERA in two starts against the Blue Jays this season, one of Gaviglio's better outings of 2018 came when he permitted four runs across 7 2/3 innings and struck out eight in a no-decision against Baltimore on July 20. Baltimore is MLB's biggest 'money-burner' in 2018 at minus-$4312, $978 worse than any other team. The Orioles also own MLB's worst road record (16-48), as well as its worst road moneyline mark (minus-$2426). Toronto moves to 9-0 at home against Baltimore at home in 2018 with a win tonight.

Good luck...Larry

MLB | Angels vs Diamondbacks
Play on: Diamondbacks -1½ +106 at pinnacle

Paul Goldschmidt is one of the hottest hitters in baseball and Patrick Corbin is one of the top lefty starters. They should help lead the Diamondbacks to an easy home victory against the Angels tonight. The linesmakers believe so making Arizona a 2-to-1 favorite. I'm not going to lay that high of a price, but I do want Arizona in this matchup so I'll lay 1 1/2 on the run line. Goldschmidt is riding a 12-game hitting streak. He is batting .500 in his last 10 games with four homers and 10 RBI's during this span. Goldschmidt and his Arizona teammates should be able to do damage against rookie Felix Pena. He's in the Angels' starting rotation because of injuries and holds a 4.35 ERA. Pena is well above the league average in giving up hard hit balls and he's not a big strikeout pitcher. The Diamondbacks are averaging six runs per game during their past seven games. Corbin is third in the National League in strikeouts. He isn't walking batters, nor giving up home runs. His strikeout-to-walk ratio is 190-to-37. He hasn't surrendered a home run during his last 10 starts. Corbin is in excellent form, too, going 3-0 with a 2.66 ERA in his last three starts. The Angels have never faced Corbin. They are batting .226 versus lefthanders, second-lowest in the majors and have been without superstar Mike Trout. The Diamondbacks won't lack motivation and focus holding a one-half game lead in the NL West Division and having been idle on Monday after returning from a nine-game road trip that concluded Sunday afternoon in San Diego. The Angels have no realistic playoff motivation being a .500 team that has lost 23 of their past 33 away games. (Editor's note: Stephen Nover has won 67 percent of his premium/free baseball plays during the past eight days and has his High Roller Parlay going today in addition to this free selection.)

MLB | STL vs LAD
Play on: UNDER 8½ -105

10* FREE MLB PICK (Under 8.5)

I'll gladly take my chances here with the UNDER 8.5 in Tuesday's NL action that has the Dodgers hosting the Cardinals. The ball just doesn't carry well at night at Dodgers Stadium and I think we have two really good starters going in this one. St Louis will send out Daniel Poncedeleon, who threw 7 no hit innings in his MLB debut about a month ago at Cincinnati. He's since been used in the bullpen and has continued to pitch well. LA will counter with Hyun-Jin Ryu, who was sensational in his first start back from the DL, allowing just 3 hits with 0 walks and 6 strikeouts in 6 shutout innings at home against the Giants. Ryu also owns a 1.36 ERA and 0.879 WHIP over 5 career starts against the Cardinals. Give me the UNDER 8.5!
