FYI, let's limit the comps to the first 2 pages, I need this thread to be used for chatter and what games members would like to pick up or split. Service thread getting way to much chatter. Ty.

Florida Marlins at Houston Astros (+102, 9)

Did you know Florida's games have exceeded the total eight straight times and 11 of the last 12?

And the Marlins are doing most of the heavy lifting. Until Sunday's 7-3 loss to Colorado, Florida had scored at least six runs in seven straight games, averaging 9.4 runs.

The pitching matchup at the ballpark once known as "Ten-Run Field" could help keep Florida's streak of overs alive.

Florida's Ricky Nolasco gave up 10 runs in 3 1-3 innings in his last start. Houston rookie Bud Norris has become increasingly more hittable with each outing.

Pick: Over

Seattle Mariners at Detroit Tigers (+117, 7.5)

If you want a low price on Felix Hernandez, usually you have to get him on the road. But the numbers say otherwise.

The right-hander is 8-1 with a 1.96 ERA away from home. The Mariners have not lost a road game with Hernandez on the hill since May 14 at Texas, when all Hernandez did was pitch seven scoreless innings in an eventual 3-2 setback.

In his last seven road starts, Hernandez is 6-0 with a 1.53 ERA. Included in that stretch is a win at Detropit on July 22 in which he allowed one earned run and six hits in seven innings.

Pick: Seattle

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Streaking and Slumping Pitchers
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Streaking

Ubaldo Jimenez (Colorado Rockies)

The right-hander has been outstanding since the All-Star break, going 4-0 in six starts while eating up innings for manager Jim Tracy.

"I didn't start too well, but now I'm very confident," Jimenez told the team's web site. "I know that I can go out there and throw six, seven or eight innings every time I get the ball."

Working as a favorite each time, Jimenez has allowed just 26 hits in 42 2-3 innings, posting a 2.55 ERA with 39 strikeouts.

Although he continues to battle control issues, Jimenez did not walk a batter for just the second time this season Aug. 1 at Cincinnati.

David Price (Tampa Bay Rays)

The southpaw has been erratic this season but much more stable at home.

Price has won his last four starts at Tropicana Field, lasting at least six innings and allowing no more than two earned runs in each. He has not lost at home since June 23 vs. Philadelphia.

In that span, Price has an ERA of 1.78 and a WHIP (walks + hits per inning) of 1.07, winning three times as a favorite.

Derek Lowe (Atlanta Braves)

The veteran righty also is gobbling up innings, working at least six in his last seven starts, allowing no more than three earned runs and going 6-1 in that span.

In his last outing, Lowe pitched seven innings for the first time since June 9 vs. Pittsburgh.

This will be Lowe's third start against the New York Mets. He is 2-0 against them, allowing just eight hits in 12 2-3 innings.

Returning

Freddy Garcia (Chicago White Sox)

The veteran hurler will be trying to recapture some of his old magic. His old team sure hopes so.

Garcia was released from the Mets' minor league system in April and was signed by the White Sox to a minor league deal in June.

He was 0-3 with a 6.35 ERA at Triple-A Charlotte.

Garcia has won 118 career games, including 17 for the White Sox in 2006. But he was traded after that season and is just 2-6 since.

Slumping

Craig Stammen (Washington Nationals)

It's hard to believe the Nationals won eight straight games with Stammen taking his regular turn in the rotation. Then again, he did pitch only once during the streak.

The righty is fortunate to be just 0-1 with three no-decisions in his last four starts. During that stretch, he has gotten through five innings just once and compiled a 10.56 ERA.

In his last four starts, Stammen has a WHIP of 2.02. He has six strikeouts while allowing five homers.

Manny Parra (Milwaukee Brewers)

Parra has been living a charmed life lately. He has won his last four outings without making a quality start.

It's hard to say Parra is slumping based on his results. But a closer look shows that he has allowed a whopping 38 hits in 25 innings in that stretch. Throw in 10 walks and Parra has an ERA of 6.48 and a WHIP of 1.92. Does that sound like a pitcher on a four-game winning streak?

Receiving 37 runs of support never hurts, although the right-hander has gotten past the sixth inning just once.

Seattle Mariners vs. Detroit Tigers Seattle Mariners
-135 at BODOG > 11h.
Seattle leaves the Pacific Northwest for Motown and a three-game set versus the host Detroit Tigers with the first game Tuesday night and the first pitch at 7:05PM Eastern Time. Both teams are 4-5 their last 9 games overall and the Mariners will send their ace Felix Hernandez to the bump for the opener. Hernandez has been nothing short of spectacular on the highway this season posting a record of 8-1 with an ERA of 1.06. Seattle has not lost a road game with Hernandez on the hill since May 14 in Texas. In that game Hernandez pitched seven scoreless innings as his team let him down losing 3 to 2. Over his last seven road starts he is 6-0 with an ERA of 1.53 which included a win in Motown back in July where he allowed one run on six hits over seven innings of work. The Mariners are ranked 6 in pitching this season with an ERA of 3.97. Opponents are hitting .247 with an OBP of .322 and OPS of .247 against them this season. In the box the Mariners are ranked 16 in batting average with a mark of .262 averaging 4.0 runs per game and OPS of .716 on the season. The Tigers will send Rick Porcello to the hill with his 5-3 record at home and an ERA of 4.92. The Tigers are ranked 11 in pitching with an ERA of 4.22 with opponents hitting for an average of .258 and have an OBP of .332. In the box the Tigers are ranked 21 with a batting average of .258 averaging 4.6 runs per game with an OPS of .746 this season. On the technical front we see that Seattle is 15-3 (+11.6) on the road with a money line of -100 to -150 this season. Hernandez is 11-2 (+9.3) in road games this season, 10-1 (+9.4) in road games in night games this season, 10-1 (+9.5) in road games after a win over the last 3 seasons and 7-0 (+7.1) in road games after giving up 1 or less earned runs last outing this season. With solid fundamental and technical support we will back the visitor here as the Mariners ride Hernandez to the winners circle. Lay the short price with the favorite as they grab game one of this three-game set and add to the solid road record of their starter.

Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays Boston Red Sox
-160 at BOOKM > 11h.
1* Take the Boston Red Sox on the Moneyline, The Red Sox have the superior pitcher on the mound Tuesday night and the Red Sox are 13-3 in Josh Beckett's (14-4, 3.10 ERA) last 16 road starts against a team with a losing record. Beckett has pitched solid over his last 6 starts with an ERA of just 1.80 and the Red Sox are 8-1 in Beckett's last 9 starts with 5 days rest. The Red Sox are 11-2 in their last 13 games when playing with a day off and they are a perfect 4-0 in their last 4 games as a favorite. Ricky Romero (10-5, 3.70) struggled in his only two starts against the Red Sox with an ERA of 9.72 and I look for the Red Sox to hit him hard against Tuesday night. The Blue Jays are just 1-6 in their last 7 games after a day off and they are just 8-21 in their last 29 games when playing a team with a winning record. Take the Boston Red Sox as my MLB Bonus Play for Tuesday Night.

Monday winner on the Angels to make it an 18-8-1 comp play run the last 27 days.

Tuesday night, the Marlins and Astros have at it once again, this time at Minute Maid Park. Just last week, Florida took 3 of 4 from Houston, and all 4 of the games featured plenty of offense.

It will be Ricky Nolasco, and Bud Norris matching pitches for the second time in as many starts, and while Norris "outdueled" Nolasco for the win just 5 short days ago, neither hurler was particularly impressive, as Nolasco allowed a whopping 10 runs in his 3 innings of work, while Norris allowed 4 run in 5 innings, but qualified for the "W".

Florida is on a 9-2 run their last 11, and they are thinking October baseball these days in South Florida. The same cannot be said for the sinking 'Stros who just snapped a 3 game slide, and are only 3-11 their last 14 Tuesday night affairs.

Nolasco is certainly not the same hurler he was when he made his ML splash last season, but we have a feeling that Norris, and his 3-0 season mark is going to take the hit tonight against the streaking Marlins.

Play on Florida.

GAME: Milwaukee Brewers @ Pittsburgh Pirates Aug 18, 2009 7:05PM

PICK: Pittsburgh Pirates

REASON FOR PICK: Play On: Pittsburgh w/Ohlendorf vs Parra
Note: The Pirates and Brewers battle in Game Two of this three game series when Ross Ohlendorf meets Manny Parra in Pittsburgh this evening. Parra takes the mound knowing he is 5-10 in his last 15 road team starts, with an 8.58 ERA in his last 6 road efforts. In his last start, Parra lasted 5 2/3 innings while surrendering 13 hits and allowing 6 runs, yet still managed to pick up the win. With Ohlendorf 9-2 in his last 11 home team starts, look for the Pirates to get the best of the Brewers here tonight.

We recommend a 1-unit play on Pittsburgh with Ohlendorf versusu Parra.

GAME: Seattle Mariners @ Detroit Tigers Aug 18, 2009 7:05PM

PICK: Seattle Mariners -135

REASON FOR PICK: PLAY ON Seattle (Hernandez) minus on the money line vs. Detroit (Porcello), Tuesday at 7:05 PM EST

Detroit has been a strong home team but Seattle won two of three at Comerica earlier this season. Felix Hernandez is 2-0 against Detroit this season and 4-0 in his last four outings against the Tigers. Seattle is 18-6 behind Hernandez this season yet he is still not valued like one of the AL’s truly elite pitchers. Hernandez has actually pitched significantly better away from home featuring incredible numbers with a 1.96 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP en route to Seattle going 11-2 in his road starts.

While Detroit is in playoff position, the Mariners would not be far behind the Tigers if they were competing for the same spot. Seattle has been the better hitting team and the superior statistical pitching team this season. The Mariners are also 21-7 in the last 28 games as favorites. Over the last ten games both teams are 5-5 but Seattle has posted far better pitching numbers and superior offensive numbers against right-handed pitching.

Detroit’s bullpen is a continuing problem that has not gone away, featuring a 5.24 ERA in the last ten games. Rookie star pitcher Rick Porcello has had a fine season but he has clearly worn down with the serious workload faced for the first time. He will be well rested for this outing after he was ejected and suspended after just one inning in his last outing. Porcello’s ERA is over a run higher at home and Detroit is just 4-4 in his last eight starts, and in four of those starts he allowed at least five runs.

Best of Luck, Lee.

Delivered the FREE winner Monday with the Rangers getting it done at home against the Twins. Today I'm backing the Indians as they host the Angels in Cleveland.

I know the Angels have been the hottest team in baseball the last few months, but in their history they haven't had much luck in Cleveland. I'm going with the Tribe in this one as the Angels are throwing a rookie in just his second career big-league start.

Trevor Bell made his debut on Wednesday when he allowed four runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings at home against the Rays and his offense did the majority of the work in the 10-5 win.

On the other side, the Indians have Fausto Carmona (2-7, 6.37) on the mound having not looked too bad lately. Since he came off the DL on July 31, Carmona has made three starts and given up a combined five runs in 17 innings. Wednesday he allowed two runs in six innings against the Rangers but it wasn't his fault for the loss as the offense got nothing in the 5-0 final.

For his career against the Angels, Carmona has made two starts and allowed two earned runs in 13 innings.

When this series is in Cleveland, the Indians are 6-2 in the last eight meetings. They are also on streaks of 7-2 in series openers, 4-1 after an off-day and 4-0 when Carmona starts a series.

I'm looking for the Cleveland offense to be able to plate some runs off the rookie while Carmona delivers a solid effort. Play the Indians.

(977) KANSAS CITY ROYALS
(978) CHICAGO WHITE SOX
Take "Over"

Freddy Garcia will make his return start for the White Sox Tuesday night against Kansas City. Garcia, 33, is up from Triple-A Charlotte and suffered shoulder problems with the Phillies in 2007 that lingered into this spring. KC is on a 9-3-1 run over the total and Gil Meche has been a reason, with a 7.53 ERA his last three starts. Chicago is on a 5-3 run over the total. Look for plenty of offense, play the Royals/White Sox Over the total.

BIG AL

Diamondbacks at Phillies

Pedro Martinez will make his second start since joining the Philadelphia rotation, and the result will be the Diamondbacks and Phillies staying below the number.

Our Tuesday night MLB selection is on the Arizona Diamondbacks and Philadelphia Phillies staying under the total in the City of Brotherly Love.

Phillies righthander Pedro Martinez had his first start in over 10 months on August 12 against the Cubs and although Martinez surrendered three earned runs on seven hits in just five innings, the veteran three-time Cy Young award winner proclaimed the outing a success and says he's ready to come back tonight and pitch even better.

It's hard to believe that this is Martinez's 18th season in the major leagues but despite the miles on his arm, the Phillies obviously think he still has enough in the tank and they are willing to bump another veteran, Jamie Moyer, from their rotation and give Martinez a shot.

Compared to Martinez, D-Backs veteran Jon Garland is practically a rookie with only 10 years of major league service. But unlike Martinez, Garland is not a hard thrower and he historically has some of the lowest strikeout totals of any full-time starter. Despite the lack of overpowering stuff, Garland usually finds a way to throw quality innings and the righthander now has quality starts in eight of his last nine outings going back to the beginning of July.

These two teams played a three-game series back in July and all three of those games went under the total. The Under is 5-1 in the last six Phillies games. Take the Under.

Pick: Diamondbacks-Phillies Under 10½

VEGAS EXPERTS

Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays

Josh Beckett hasn’t had the best of luck against division rival Toronto as he has a 3-7 TSR in his career with an ERA of just under six. But he has pitched well of late allowing only two runs in his past three starts. His counterpart Ricky Romero has two career starts against the Red Sox, but hasn’t got out of the fifth inning in either start.
