MLB | KC vs MIN
Play on: OVER 9 -108

1* Free Pick On Royals/Twins OVER

I like the value here with the OVER in Tuesday's MLB action that has the Twins hosting the Royals. While the two teams combined for just 4 runs in the series opener on Monday, there were plenty of opportunities for both teams to push across more runs. KC left 7 runners on base and Minnesota stranded 12.

The Twins had scored at least 5 runs in each of their previous 4 games and I think we see them at least reach that mark in this one. The Royals will turn to Ian Kennedy, who is a mere 1-8 with a 5.11 ERA and 1.418 WHIP in 17 starts. Kennedy is also just 1-4 with a 5.48 ERA in 8 road starts.

Minnesota will turn to Aaron Slegers, who was great in his first start of 2018, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits in 6 innings at home against the Orioles. While it was a great outing, I don't see Slegers being able to continue to throw at that level. The guy had a 3.55 ERA in 14 starts at Triple A.

OVER is 5-1 in the Royals last 6 off a loss and 4-0 in their last 4 after scoring 2 runs or less. OVER is also 5-1 in the Twins last 6 off a win and 13-3-2 in the last 18 meetings between these two teams in Minnesota. Take the OVER!

Love this Interleague showdown to soar past the number tonight, as the bats come alive against two pitchers who are struggling terribly right now.

IMPORTANT: As you know every single Run Line play and Total wager will automatically list the scheduled starting pitchers at the time of the wager, and I want you to be sure the following pitchers are the registered starters on your ticket when making your wager: Marcus Stroman and Julio Teheran. If one or both of these pitchers is not going, this is a no-play.

Stroman is hoping he can rebound after a rough outing last Wednesday, when he was pelted for six runs over 4.2 innings by the hapless New York Mets. That's troubling because he had been strong in his previous two starts since coming off the disabled list on June 23. Now he heads into a dangerous stadium against a dangerous lineup that is contending in the National League East.

The Braves, who are tied atop the East with the Philadelphia Phillies, have the fifth-best batting average (.259) in baseball. They've also scored the sixth-most runs in the league, with 439 aross. They will chase Stroman early and get us half of what we need against him alone.

As for Teheran, his inconsistencies continue, as we've seen two good outings and two disappointing starts since he's returned from the disabled list. He has an 8.05 ERA over his past 11 starts against American League East teams, and that won't bode well in facing a Toronto lineup that comes in rested after taking Monday off.

Let's play this one high tonight.

Your Tuesday freebie will be Toronto and Atlanta to pile up the runs and land Over the total at Sun Trust Park.

This will be the second series between the teams this season, and they also played 4 times against each other last year. Right now, ALL 6 of their previous tilts show up in the Over column, and I don't see a thing changing tonight with Marcus Stroman and Julio Teheran listed.

Stroman has only worked 54 innings thus far this season, but sports an ERA of 6.50. Teheran's last 3 starts show evidence that he needs to get to the All-Star Break, as his ERA is 6.89 for his last 15-plus innings worked.

The Braves have played 3 of their last 4 games, and 6 of their last 9 games overall, as both their starters and their relievers have not been getting the job done as we head to the break.

Go ahead and play Over tonight in HOT-lanta.

I will continue to ride the Minnesota Twins Run Line, as I told you last week when they were dismantling the Baltimore Orioles, this 11-game homestand is crucial. Tonight, they are going to absolutely annihilate the Kansas City Royals.

Though pitchers are automatically listed when making Run Line wagers, I am insisting you DO NOT worry about who the scheduled starters are. In the event of a scratch, you MUST re-wager the game with the new pitcher(s) who are scheduled. This play will stand no matter who pitches for either team.

The Twins did a great job in turning back a dreadful period, as they erased an ugly 1-8 skid from a recent road trip by sweeping the league-worst Orioles.

They remain in second place in the American League Central - the worst division in baseball with just one team above .500, the Cleveland Indians. But Minnesota is closing fast, having now won five straight. It has the potential to be better, and might be the only contender the Tribe will deal with later this season. The Twins have shown that a bit of late, and roll into this game riding a five-game win streak that has seen them outscore the competition 29-10.

The Twins are now 25-20 at home after last night's 3-1 win over Kansas City. That momentum continues against the Royals, the second-worst team in baseball with a 25-65 mark. The Royals are mired in a 4-28 slide since June 4.

Kansas City's offense is abysmal, including the ninth-worst road batting average of .233. The Royals have scored just 155 runs on the highway, least in the league. To have to play a surging Twins team that is in the midst of an 11-game homestand that could get it back into the wild-card race is dangerous, especially since Kansas City has lost 10 straight.

After this three-game set, the Twins host the Tampa Bay Rays. And on this 11-game homestand, I wouldn't be surprised to see Minnesota win at least eight. It's off to a good start thus far. It's must-win time for the Twins, before the All-Star Break.

Lay the run line today.

Tuesday comp play release is the Pirates to down the Nationals.

Everyone keeps waiting for the Nats to get on a roll, but each time they look like they have something started, they regress. Such is the case right now, as the Nationals have followed a 3 game winning streak with losses in their last pair, getting outscored 16-5 over the past 2 days.

That puts the Nats at 4-10 their last 14 games, and on the road they have yet to find any form of winning consistency, losing 13 of their last 16 away from D.C.

Pittsburgh will go with Joe Musgrove who is making his first start since June 29th when he blanked San Diego for 7 scoreless innings in a win. Musgrove works against Jeremy Hellickson who will be making his 3rd start since coming off the DL.

Hellickson has not made it past the 5th inning in either return to the hill starts, and was just rocked for 9 runs over 4 innings in a no decision at Miami.

Cannot trust the Nats or Hellickson right now.

Take the Pirates.

Ever wagered on WNBA before? Well, tonight you are if you're playing my free pick because I'm taking the Phoenix Mercury over the Dallas Wings in a crucial matchup.

The Mercury are going to be looking for redemption after falling in Atlanta, 76-70. The Dream did a good job of holding off Phoenix's late charge, after the Mercury fell behind 62-39 but used a 31-14 run to make the game close.

Diana Taurasi scored 19 and Brittney Griner added 18 for Phoenix (14-6), which is in the thick of a Western Conference battle with the surging Seattle Storm (15-5) that has won five straight. The Mercury are also holding off the Los Angeles Sparks (12-8), who have lost three in a row.

The Western Conference is clearly the class of the WNBA, with five teams that could make the postseason, and the Las Vegas Aces closing in on that eighth seed. The Wings are in fifth place in the West, and yes they've won three straight, but Sky Diggins can't do it all be herself.

I've seen Taurasi play, and after the Mercury beat the Aces here in Las Vegas, she was adamant her team needed to be strong heading into the All-Star Break - including winnnig road games. Phoenix is 5-3 at home and an impressive 9-3 on the road. Despite the loss in Atlanta, the Mercury have won seven of 10.

Look for Phoenix to pull this one out.

#MLB FREE PICK FROM MIKE LUNDIN

The Los Angeles Angels and the Seattle Mariners got Monday off, but they're back in action tonight with the opener of a three-game series at Anaheim.

Garrett Richards (5-4, 3.42 ERA) will take the ball for the Halos. He'll make his third straight starts against Seattle and fanned eight Mariners through 5 1/3 frames his last time out. Overall he is 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA and 18 Ks through 14 innings in three starts against the Mariners this season.

Seattle turns to Mike Leake (8-5, 4.11 ERA) who gave up four runs (three earned) on nine hits in four innings when pitching opposite Richards last Wednesday. Leake is 1-2 against the Angels overall this season with a 4.11 ERA.

Mariners are 1-6 in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning record. Angels are 9-4 in their last 13 home games.

Free pick on LA Angels.

DMack's Bonus Play for Tuesday, July 10, 2018 is on the Dodgers

Betting 50 cent road favorites is not a lont-term recipe for success .... you have to pick your spots. Rich Hill was plagued by injuries in the first half but he's showing "buy signs" as the Dodgers heat up and he's owned the Padres (20 innings, two earned, 11 total hits, L3 starts) of late. Dodgers 6-2 L8, 7-3 L10 road, and 10-3 in L13 in series with the Padres. Add to the mix that the Friars are on a 1-8 run as a home dog of 25-75 cents and you have a pretty good case to take a Flyer on the Bums.

MLB | Phillies vs Mets
Play on: Phillies -109 at pinnacle

10* FREE MLB PICK (Phillies -109)

I'll take my chances here with the Phillies on the road against the Mets. This is a rare instance where both teams are sending out starters who will be making their first ever big league start. Philadelphia will give the nod to Enyel De Los Santos, while New York calls up Drew Gagnon. De Los Santos is a promising 23-year-old prospect, who went 9-3 with a 1.89 ERA in 16 starts at the Triple-A level. He was recently named the starter for the Triple-A All-Star Game and selected for the Futures Game. Gagnon wasn't selected to either team and was just 1-4 with a 4.67 ERA in 17 starts for Triple-A Las Vegas. Add in the Mets struggles at the plate (scored 1 run or less in 3 of their last 4 games) and I think Philadelphia is in an ideal spot here to get a win. Give me the Phillies -109!

My Bonus Play is on the LA Angels at 10:05 ET. Seattle had its eight-game winning streak snapped by the Angels last Wednesday and was nearly swept by the visiting Colorado Rockies this past weekend before salvaging a 6-4 win on Sunday. Seattle will kick off a six-game road trip to close the first half by visiting the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday 23 games over .500 at 57-34 but that record only earns them the fourth-best record in the American League (2nd in the AL West, three games back of Houston). The Angels jumped out to a 13-3 start in 2018 but enter the final week before the All Star break just 46-45 (that's 33-42 since their fast start), 14 games behind the Astros.

Mike Leake (8-5, 4.11 ERA) was last in action against the Angels (this past Wednesday) when he had a string of eight straight starts lasting at least six innings come to an end with a 7-4 loss. Leake was reached for four runs (three earned) on nine hits and one walk in four innings while squandering an early lead. That effort ended an eight-start run in which he had allowed two or fewer ERs in seven of those previous eight outings. Leake is 1-2 against the Angels this season with a 4.11 ERA, plus he's 3-2 in his career against Los Angeles with a 3.07 ERA.

Garrett Richards (5-4, 3.42 ERA) came off the disabled list after over a month because of a left hamstring strain to go up against Leake at Seattle last Wednesday. Richards struck out eight in 5.1 innings while allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits to earn his first win (7-4) since May 4. That May 4 win also came against Seattle, giving Richards a 2-0 record with a 2.57 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 14 innings in three starts against the Mariners this season (Angels are 2-1). Overall, he's 7-4 in his career against Seattle with a 3.06 ERA.

Leake has been a huge surprise in 2018 and Seattle has gone 13-5 in his starts, giving Leake a plus-$1,074 moneyline mark which ranks third-best among all starters. That said, it's hard for me to not believe that Leake is pitching over his head and that he's gotten more than a few good breaks. Meanwhile, I believe Richards is "sneaky good" and his solid home ERA (3.31) and excellent home WHIP (0.95) plus the fact that batters are hitting just .217 against him on the entire season, support that theory. Take the Angels.

MLB | Brewers vs Marlins
Play on: Brewers -145 at betonline

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach MLB Game #955 Tuesday Free Pick Milwaukee Brewers Money Line (-) @ Miami Marlins @ 7:10 ET - The Marlins won yesterday's game in extra innings and that means they enter Tuesday on a RARE winning streak of 2 games. How likely is it that they make it 3 straight? The fact is that we are 3 and 1/2 months into the season and beyond the half-way point of the season and the Marlins have only had a winning streak of 3 or more games 3 times! In other words, it is VERY unlikely they make it 3 straight here and I love the pitching edge for the Brewers here. Since they are on the road we get a "manageable" money line to work with and Jhoulys Chacin is 4-1 with a 3.59 ERA in his 11 road starts this season. Also, he is 2-0 in his last 3 starts versus the Marlins and has a 2.45 ERA in those 3 outings. Chacin has held the Marlins to just 12 hits in the 18 and 1/3 innings spanning those 3 starts. He'll be opposed today by Pablo Lopez of Miami and the 22-year old is very inexperienced. That inexperience showed when he was spotted a 9-0 lead in his most recent start and then imploded in a crazy game the Marlins went on to lose. Lopez has a 5.73 ERA in his 2 MLB starts and he has allowed 3 homers in the two outings including 2 in his lone home start. The Brewers had won 6 of their last 7 before yesterday's loss and they are 37-16 in night games this season. Miami had lost 8 of their last 12 prior to these rare back to back wins. The Marlins are 12-21 this season in games with a posted total of 8 or 8.5 runs. Look for a road rout in this one. Free Pick MILWAUKEE
