Cubs at Braves
Pick: Cubs +110

Chicago outscored Atlanta 49-18 in sweeping six meetings last season and I expect the Cubs to continue their dominance against the Braves tonight. Atlanta is 0-6 at home with a money line of -100 to -125 this season, losing in these spots by an average score of 2.2 to 6.3. The Cubs have won 4 of their last 6 while the Braves have dropped 5 of their last 7. I expect the Cubs to have the edge on the hill as well as the Braves are 0-5 in Kawakami's last 5 starts as a favorite. Bet the Cubs.

Today's Selection: Free Pick

Tough loss yesterday as the Mariners and Angels go against their normal grain and go well over the total.

That’s fine, we’re getting back on the winning track tonight as we’re heading out to San Diego where we’re taking the defending World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies on the road.

For awhile there, from May 15-25, the Padres couldn’t lose, as they won 10 straight games. But since then San Diego has gone only 2-3 and was only able to pick up one win in its 3-game series at Colorado over the weekend.

Consider, too, that San Diego scheduled starter Kevin Correia has only one win his last 6 starts as the Padres are just 2-4 in that stretch.

On the other side, the Phillies come into tonight having won 5 of their last 6 games with scheduled starter Joe Blanton on the mound. In fact, Philadelphia has won 3 straight games in which Blanton starts and are also 3-0 his last three starts on the road.

Overall, Philly comes into tonight on a 3-game winning streak and has won 12 of its last 16 games, including 8 of its last 10 on the road.

Tonight, the Phillies will continue their road winning ways ways as they get over on the Pads. Take Philly on the road in this one.

3♦ PHILLIES (on a 1♦ - 5♦ Scale)

Complimentary Selection

Orioles plus 110 on Monday!

For Tuesday take the Phillies at this ridiculous number.

If I knew more about this Antonio Bastardo kid then just a few solid starts at AAA Lehigh then I may have made this a pay play because the number is just silly. Unfortunately though I don't and all the research in the world at this point still can't fully convince me. But with that said are you kidding me with the weak hitting Padres laying such a number to the World Champions led by studs in Utley, Howard, Rollins and Ibanez!?!?!? This is just silly!

No doubt Jake Peavy is awesome and has been awesome over his last few starts. When the righthander is on he is as dominant as any Human Being around but come on!?!?

Charlie Manual's lineup has as much pop and potential as any in the game today and to ever get a number like this back is just a no-brainer with whoever they are throwing out to the mound, Bastardo or no Bastardo.

PETCO is obviously a pitcher's park and can help the Phillies' Rookie starter like no other ballpark around. I'm not at all saying that we are going to be backing a guy that will dazzle but besides Adrian Gonzalez the Friars do not exactly boast much with the bats and I can therefore see this young guy do enough to keep his team in the game.

Win, lose or draw, unproven hurler against stud, this number is stupid and too good to pass up, period!

(957) MILWAUKEE BREWERS
(958) FLORIDA MARLINS
Take "(958) FLORIDA MARLINS"

Manny Parra hit the skids in the second half last season and he's been awful for the most part so far this year. No one doubts the caliber of Parra's stuff but his terrible control continues to be a huge problem. Anibal Sanchez is back from the DL and not likely to go deep here, but if he's ready to go, he should have an excellent chance to leave the game with a nice lead. I'm giving the nod to the Marlins in this game.

Tuesday's Tip Sheet
By Brian Edwards

With the calendar striking June and the NBA Finals not set to start until Thursday, bettors have to focus on baseball whether they like it or not – at least for the next 48 hours.

If you haven’t been betting much bases, we’ll try to lead you to some winners with a few tips and factoids in the next few minutes.

First of all, I suggest fading Washington and doing so on a daily basis. The Nationals are the laughingstock of the majors and have served as a goldmine for gamblers, assuming they have been betting against them. They have lost six in a row and are poised to host San Francisco on Tuesday.

Manny Acta’s bullpen has been an unmitigated disaster since Opening Day. The Nats have a 5.86 ERA with relievers blowing 12 of 20 save opportunities.

Let’s check out a few of tonight’s games.

**Cubs at Braves**

--Las Vegas Sports Consultants opened Atlanta (25-25, -285) as a minus-120 favorite with a total of nine flat (minus-110 either way). Gamblers can take the Braves on the run line (minus 1 ½ runs) for a plus-170 payout (risk $100 to win $170).

--Chicago (25-24, -514) is looking to bounce back from Sunday’s 8-2 loss to the Dodgers at Wrigley Field. The Cubs open a nine-game road trip in this spot. They are 9-14 on the road and will head to Cincinnati and Houston after battling the Braves at The Ted.

--Bobby Cox’s team is 4 1/2 games back of the National League East leaders, the Phillies, who won 5-3 at San Diego last night. The Braves are coming off a 2-5 road trip and open a 10-game homestand here. After getting swept at San Francisco, they salvaged the final two games by winning Saturday and Sunday at Arizona.

--Cox will turn to Kenshin Kawakami (3-6, 4.87 ERA), who has pitched much better at The Ted. The 33-year-old righty from Japan is 2-3 with a 3.60 ERA in five home assignments.

--Lou Piniella will give the starting nod to Randy Wells (0-2, 1.80), a rookie that has been snake bitten in three straight quality starts. He’s taking the spot of Carlos Zambrano, who was suspended six games for his antics last Wednesday.

--The Cubs are in fourth place in the NL Central, four games behind division-leading Milwaukee. They could be without Alfonso Soriano in the series opener. According to LVSC’s Sports Screen, Soriano is “questionable.”

--Atlanta first baseman Casey Kotchman was hit in the shin by a pitch in Sunday’s 9-3 win at Arizona. Kotchman, who is hitting .277 with a pair of homers and 24 RBIs, is listed as “doubtful” and could miss several games.

--Atlanta LHP Tom Glavine is tentatively set to return to the rotation on June 12. He is expected to make one more minor-league rehab start. Omar Infante remains “out,” while Tim Hudson is on schedule to return in August.

--The ‘under’ is on a 14-5 run in the Cubs’ last 19 games. For the season, they have watched the ‘under’ go 25-22 overall, 11-10 in their road games.

--The ‘under’ is 25-22 overall for Atlanta, 11-9 in its home games.

--Chicago swept the season series with Atlanta last year with six consecutive victories. The ‘over’ is on a 6-2-1 run in the last nine head-to-head meetings between these NL rivals.

--WGN will have the telecast at 7:10 p.m. Eastern.

**Rangers at Yankees**

--LVSC opened New York (29-21, -47) as a minus-185 favorite with a total of 10 ‘over’ (-120). As of early this morning, most books had the Yankees as minus-200 ‘chalk’ with a total of 11 ‘under’ (-115). Bettors can take the Bronx Bombers on the run line at a minu-105 price.

--Texas (30-20, +1138) is in first place in the AL West, 4 ½ games in front of the Angels. As for the Yankees, they have sureged into the AL-East lead, one game ahead of the Red Sox and two games in front of the Blue Jays.

--Joe Girardi’s team return to the Bronx after winning five of seven on its recent road trip that included a visit to Arlington, where the Yankees won two of three from the Rangers.

--New York is 14-9 at home, while Texas is 12-11 on the road.

--Texas RHP Vicente Padilla (3-2, 4.71) will return from the DL to make his first start since May 16. The veteran right-hander was 2-0 with a 1.57 ERA in his three appearances prior to being sidelined. Padilla is 1-1 with a 5.51 ERA in three lifetime starts against the Yankees.

--A.J. Burnett (3-2, 4.78) will be on the rubber for the team in pinstripes. In his last outing, Burnett worked six scoreless innings in a 9-2 win at Texas. The righty is now 2-2 with a 4.02 career ERA against the Rangers.

--While the Rangers enjoyed a day off Monday, New York captured a 5-2 win at Cleveland behind a strong effort from Joba Chamberlain.

--The ‘under’ is 6-2-1 in the Yankees’ last nine games.

--Texas All-Star OF Josh Hamilton is "out" after recently going on the disabled list with an abdominal injury. Hamilton is struggling this year with a .240 average, six homers and 24 RBIs.

I agree. I think it would be more beneficial to everyone to have just the paid plays posted.

Boston Red Sox vs Detroit Tigers
Detroit Tigers -125 at sia
15* on Detroit Tigers -125

The Tigers are the play at home tonight against the Boston Red Sox. The starting pitching match up here makes this a solid bet. Rick Porcello has been excellent for the Tigers, going 6-3 so far this season with a 3.48 ERA. In his last 3 starts, Porcello is 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. Meanwhile, the Red Sox will have Daisuke Matsuzaka on the mound. Dice-K has been terrible since being activated from the DL, the Red Sox losing in his last 3 starts while he has posted a 9.82 ERA and a 2.36 WHIP. Boston is now just 12-16 on the road and the Tigers are 15-7 at home. Jump all over Detroit. -=

Arizona D-Backs vs Los Angeles Dodgers
Los Angeles Dodgers -114 at 5dimes20*
No-Brainer on LA Dodgers -114

I'll take the Dodgers over the D-Backs with a couple of very good pitchers on the mound. Both Dan Haren for Arizona and Randy Wolf for LA have been solid all season, the biggest difference being that the D-Backs are just 5-5 in Haren's 10 starts this year, while the Dodgers have notched 7 wins in Randy Wolf's 11 starts. The reason for this is pretty simple, the Dodgers have scored 5.5 runs per game this season, while the Diamondbacks are scoring only 4.2. What makes this the best bet of the day is that, as bad as the Arizona offense is, it is even worse against left-handed starters where they are hitting just .213 as a team and scoring only 3.1 runs per game. The D-Back's record against lefties so far this season is 5-10. Add another loss to that column tonight.

Free Pick for Tuesday

So I know I've had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don't play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS. I just don't want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren't intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer.

You can find more great winners every day by visiting our sports betting forum. Handicapper Steve Janus won the college football title here at the site, and he's giving away all of his baseball plays for FREE in the forum.

I'm a Pirates fan, have been for almost 20 years, and over the past few season I have learned to do nothing but fade them. Last year I remember when Santana and the Mets came to town, I bet Santana and it was a total lock. I swore that if Santana ever faced us again I would lay the farm house on it, Santana is going to go for the no-hitter today....lay the lumber!
