Lets take a closer look at the 6th race @ Tampa Bay Downs, number 6 Burning Light (9/2 ml) has several things that are working in his favor and may be a very good bet today, first is the drop from special weights to claimers, this is a powerful move all by itself, add to that the blinkers on move and the gate work on Feb.7th, no doubt the blinks were on for that workout, then note the comment made by the chart writer at the end of the most recent race that says "speed to turn", next note that todays race is the 2nd race after a layoff for this horse, prior to his 1st start after the layoff he was given 3 workouts in 15 days, obviously this horse is sound as is evident by the ammount of the recent activity, also the connections on this horse are very sharp, trainer Bennett and rider Allen are both upper echelon and only add more strength to the equation. I would expect Burning Light to show up today as a well trained, professionally ridden, sound, speedy race horse who holds a class advantage on his foes. The link that follows will take you to the past performances for this race. http://www.brisnet.com/bris_link/pdfs/darley_139210.pdf

Good luck.

I will take a stab at this (betting everything else under the sun, why not a ponies pick).

Ran him/her across the board. GL to us and thanks for the pick either way!

Ego's what were the final odds to win (for Burning Light). Just curious how close it was and what it would have been.

Thanks for the pick, made a little coin

I went to look at the charts for this race, as I was asking myself the same questions, unfortunately the charts will not be available until later, I will however post them to this thread as soon as I can.

I did take a look at the winners past performances, the horse was a 1st time starter with obscure connections and an obscure rider, I doubt they even knew what they had @ 50-1 odds.

Final odds on the #6 were 9/5

The chart for the 6th @ Tampa Bay Downs follows.

There are some items of interest in this race, most noticeable is how the winner won, Proud Style stalked from 6th position and won off like a 3/5 shot, winning by a widening 15 1/2 lengths, I seriously doubt that the connections of this horse had any idea of what they had prior to the 1st start, and it is quite possible that they still don't know, the race Proud Style ran could be a "freak", he may or may not produce a race like that ever again, this horse is a horse worth watching for in future starts in South Florida.

Also, the horse that finished 2nd is worth watching for right back in the same type of race with those same horses as he was a much the best 2nd, minus Proud Style, Burning Light should be a next out winner.

The link that follows is the chart for the 6th @ Tampa Bay Downs on 2/17/09.
