Thank God Obama only had a total of 4 months of “total control” of Congress during which Obamacare was passed. Thank God that enough Republicans were in place to keep that pan buttered for someone like a Trump to take advantage of and prosper whereas Obama could have but didn’t.
They had total control of everything for two years, Nancy was speaker and he owned at least a 59-41 majority in the Senate,
They passed an economic stimulus plan within 30 days, a democratic policy dream, and a complete bust. It stimulated nothing but the deficit. Seriously, look at the economy today and how it was stimulated. It's happened many times in the past, but the last two presidencies prove once again who's right about creating and enabling economic growth. It's not career politicians and government programs that create real growth, it's the private sector. All the government has to do is provide security AND stay the fuck out of the way.
They used a super-majority to pass Obamacare. The people of Massachusetts tried to derail them by taking away Kennedy's legacy seat in a special election, but they failed because the House and the Senate simply chose NOT to reconcile the differences in their respective bills so there didn't have to be another vote.
With two years of complete control, they passed nothing but a failed stimulus and a clusterfuck known as Obamacare. With complete control of everything, they never even repealed all the Bush era tax cuts which they falsely claimed created the economic downturn late in Bush's presidency. Imagine that? not repealing policies that they claimed created a worldwide economic recession.
Having said all that, they never fixed the problems they promised to fix for generations now. They're going to eliminate poverty, eliminate guns, reduce crime,.... essentially save the world from all the bad things they tell us selfish white republicans create. All the career democrats are promising today to fix the same problems they've been promising to fix since they became politicians, yet when they had complete control to fix all those problems, they did NOTHING
Truthfully, even career republicans behave in a similar fashion, all talk and no real policies passed. The repeal of Obamacare for example, when a career politician called the maverick reneged on his promise to repeal Obamacare.
Trump is doing what he can, mostly on his own and without much help from Congress in the policy arena.
