Hello gentlemen;

I stopped by for a sec just to announce we will be dealing a true dime line in baseball.

What is a true dime line? Well, Fernando had the kindness to explain it to me, so I'll pass on the knowledge...

. These are the numbers:

A dime line up to fav:-190; dog:+180.
It will then break: fav:-195; dog: +182(rarely used)
Once the line has hit fav: -200; the comeback on the dog will be +185.
And from -210 on the fav; dog: +190; it will basically be a progressive line.

When it comes to the ball game, go Hollywood fine people; you can't go wrong there.

Bring it on Gents, JUST bring it on.

Hey Nuttmaster B:

The one and only.
icon_biggrin.gif
. Thanks for the courtesy bump, brother. It's been madly busy around here lately and we're working on some stuff we're sure you guys will love.

As for the baseball announcement, we're just trying to do something in the long run. It has to do with the 'search' feature of this fine site and threads suchg as "The URL to every SB there is".(Thanks a lot BTW

).Time has proven long term investment assures consistency on profits. Besides, "the early bird..."

Take care Peaches, keep on tearing 'em UP.

Thanks for the post.

It's good to see books post professionally and responsibly here.

I hate seeing spam books on this forum.

Don't think you can offer that and make money Wil.

But that is your problem, not mine hehe...

The other thing I would like to see is an alternate runline as offered by Pinnacle and 5 Dimes.

Which is where your can lay -1.5 on the dog, hope a miracle happens and get paid +400 or so.

I like that bet a lot, matches my win percentage to a tee.

Peep

How can they not make money on a 10 cent line?

You'll say players are more informed now? Sure they are.

So why are they changing the line in baseball? Cause they can't make the nut they use to. Times aren't the same. So they go with 20 cent line, which in turn IMO runs business off. So with the business they run off and the new $ they make with the 20 cent line and the decrease in players and or amount its the same money as the 10 cent line so why move it? It's all about volume and who is running the ship. Your bookmaker has to know his players know who to move off of and who to let go.

IMHO its all about a one stop shop. Where can a grab a BJ hand while in a commercial pulling in my team. Where can I get good service and little BS as possible. Where can I get fair knowledgeable management staff who works with me when I need it? Where can I get a bonus when I need it? Where can I get a payout on my timeframe without having to fax in my life story. Where can I get scores? Where can I get a pager or free scorephone service? It's lots of little things the player looks for. And it's a lots a good book like Hollywood tries to provide to the guy so he stays with them. It's all about the little things.

Joey C: thanks for the compliments Sir. They're very welcome.

Dogball: I'll take the liberty to quote Fernando, when I asked him how was it looking in a particularly busy day. He said: "It's us against the world, Will. Just business as usual". So bring it on dogball, Fernando will be ready as he is every single day of his life.

Peep: If you ask us if we would rather deal a 20 cents line for bases, the answer would be "yes". Undeniably, that would translate into more profit for us, in a more inmediate period of time. But there are other factors that have influence on what a bookmaker is willing to offer his customers. To assure your players get a fair and competetive prize according to the highest standards of this industry is a "must".
That's the main reason we deal a dime line, because we want to make sure everybody sees Hollywood International as a company that is seriously engaged in a constant process of improvement.

If you ask any bookmaker, they will probably tell you they hate to deal pucks; nevertheless you NEED to offer the option. To answer your question in a more direct manner: the percentage of hold any given book gets on MLB can never be compared to the return of profit on NFL. But everybody knows that. What people tend to forget, is the principle of "sticking through thick and thin". We will always make sure our service meets the most exigent standard in this industry, whether dealing the bases, the pucks or the pigskin.

It's not quite a gratuity, it'd rather be a customer retention program.

Thanks for your posts, gentlemen.

Jay Leno: right on the money, my man. Right on the money.

Peep: I'll bring your proposal to the attention of Fernando and the Big Guys here. We'll see what they have to say.

Will

P.S.: As Sam Walton would say:"...it's better to have a small percentage on a big volume, than a higher pecentage on nothing at all..."

Yeah, as I remember the THEORICAL HOLD on a dime line is around 2%.

And you can slash theorical hold in half I suspect as a rule of thumb. Happy you are doing it, you may have to to get business.

I won't even bother depositing funds in the summer to a 20 cent line book, I am sure many players feel the same way.

If you want to get ready for the fall, my prediction is -107 will be the norm there too when the dust settles. The twenty cent line for football is going to be a thing of the past too IMO.

The hold for baseball is about 2%.

The hold for the dime line is about 1%. The totals and run-line action, on the 20 cent line, accounts for a little over 3%. Bettors as a whole do better than the vig on baseball.

One of the other reasons baseball isn't much of a profit for the book is because parlays don't increase the house edge in excess of what the vig on the moneyline gives them (in other words, a 4 teamer on -1.10 teams pays 13.28 instead of 11.00, 5 teams pays 25.36 instead of 21.00, etc.)

The hold on 10c sides might not even be 1% at some places. Maybe some books can add input to this.

Stick with that and the reward is limitless.

I guess I will have to bet bases into Hollywood....

And I thought I was going to take the summer off from gambling??!!

Will - very strong my friend, very strong. Look for the Irishman to be a regular contributor to your profit margin.

I can't win in bases but will go down fighting......

I think Hollywood is doing the right thing.
If they can get 5 times the business with a dime line than with a 20 cent line they should make more money if they keep sharp lines.
Plus they will attract new people who will keep with them when football comes around.
Good business move in my opinion.

"Bring it on Gents, JUST bring it on"

is this challenge backed up by a guarantee to not cut limits or boot winners? your pretty cocky telling dogball to bring it on, i'm thinking of taking you for a few laps around the block myself. just want to make sure you dont want to start crying like Canbet after you cut a guy a few checks.
