Without bees you would starve or spend 95% of your income on food.

I understand 40 was less....i have more than 40 types of weeds in my yard alone.

I was never arguing saying that bees aren't important....i just wanted someone to help me understand why...."the list goes on and on"...what list? At least BAS tried but that doesn't convince me as much.

now erosion sounds important but I don't understand how or the correlation....(honestly, all i figured we benefit from the plants were food and oxygen...but i'm no scientist)
The erosion has to do with the "everything else is just looks" comment. Without said "looks", the Earth would erode away almost instantly.

"the list goes on and on" refers to how important bees really are. It goes way past what you stated. I can give example after example later after dinner...

If we didn't have bees do you really think we wouldn't adapt? It's not like, we as humans, couldn't find another way to pollinate. I would even say we could do it better than a bee. It's not like we would just die without them.

face)(*^% Sure we can pollinate...but at what cost? Bees b free...unless you are the orchards and farmers who now have to rent them to pollinate their crop...suggest you do a little reading.

Honey bee is not Native American, hah.

How many people were we trying to feed in the 1600's? How many choices were there?

I'm not saying bees serve not purpose. Just the thought that human life would cease to exist without bees is a little extreme. Bees are the most effective pollinators but lets not pretend that they are the only pollinators or the only means to pollinate.

I don't know. I assume Native American did not consume a lot of vegetables or fruit nor they need them to survive. They called bees "White Man's flies", and that is very racist if you ask me. @)

Would eliminate MANY FOODS. Only 10%of flowering plants are pollinated without animals...... You got bees, bats, butterflys, birds. BEE's are king.

Wiki is a good source if you need to read up

Eliminating many foods doesn't equal extinction. Wind serves as a pollinator and you are also leaving out flies, hornets, and wasps. In my previous post I mentioned bees are the most effective, so them being king is agreed. 75-80% of plants are pollinated by bees. Why do you think the human race would cease to exist without bees? Less biodiversity doesn't mean we can't continue as a species.

Never said mankind would be wiped out. Flies/wind are terrible pollinators.

Well...if only 10-20% of the food that is available now, would be available what would the price be? We can't even feed everyone now in ANY country. If bees were to go away....you would lose 1/2 the population within 10 years....not a bad thing necessarily.

Not a bad thing at all (I know, I'm an asshole). Lol.

It's true though, and half of that half or more wouldn't be able to afford to eat. Hell I don't see how most people afford it now. Going to be forced out of our own country by food prices...

Just relax boys and girls. The government does concern about the well being of the bees. That's why the bees get $5 million subsidy a year from 2012-2018. It's in the Farm Bill.

Thank you to taxpayers such as loomis, Matty and the RX bee lovers.
