I Learned Something Last Week

Heard a radio interview with the man who has been head coach for the most Div 1 NCAA national championship teams

Hint: He's currently at a university east of the Mississippi.

Who is he? (and of course if you google this, you blow)

NCAA Triple Crowns: 5
SWC Championships: 38
SEC Championships: 46

i think the track and field guy from arkansas won like 40 championships, so unless he migrated east, someone else has been one hell of a coach the past 50+ years

It's kind of unfair because he does technically coach three different sports, indoor track, outdoor track, and cross-country, but the dude was a legend.

Isn't Mike Conley or Mike Powell from U of Arkansas?

What other track studs has he coached?

I guess Sporting News is going to have to change their coach of the Century from Wooden to this John

McDonnell didn't even rank in their top 50......which tells you how much of a rag that magazine is.

I overlooked McDonnel

Heard the interview with the UNC Women's Soccer coach - Anson Dorrance

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anson_Dorrance

I'll clarify and say that he did not represent himself as "the most ever", but the sports radio (local) host who interviewed him did make that statement.

And it does appear that McDonnell has had the opportunity to grab three championships a year

Dorrance coached both the UNC Men and Women teams for about ten years, but otherwise has been just the ladies
