He wasn't medically cleared this week so Cody Thomas will start. Prepare to be underwhelmed. Still no line up for the game.

Stoops has already blown this season. Perhaps it is best for him to start preparing for next season. His non-con schedule next season is rather easy, with a trip to Tennessee the only possible loss. He must play at Baylor, Kansas State and Oklahoma State and that is a tough conference schedule. I hear that there is take around Norman about Stoops and "retirement", forced or otherwise. Any truth to this?

My backup QB is better than your backup QB? what a year....

I'd be lying if i say i felt bad for OU.....but I dont get the dumping on Stoops. Sure, it's been another down year but until you miss a bowl game, you're fine!

It's his asst coaches, OC and DC that are the problem. But Bob is loyal to a fault. At this point and time who else would want those guys and if so why. Bob is as good as it gets for the most part. Fans some times expect too much. The year Bradford got knocked out could have been a big one and you can't blame that on him. Who expected that win against Bama in the bowl. He is worth the money but he needs to replace those asst coaches.

you must be mistaken or perhaps a typo. Bama doesnt lose. They are the #1 team always and forever. ESPN said so

I guess that means that he has to fire his brother because in OU's 3 losses, they have given up 37, 31, and 48 points. They also gave up 33 in a win at West Virginia. Last week was the first time that OU scored less than 30 points in a game. Do not blame the Co-OC's. People make excuses for Stoops every season, but the fact is that while he has run up a very good record, he has not had a 0 or 1 loss season since 2004. That loss was a 55-19 pounding by USC. That is the biggest rout in BCS CChampionship game history. I doubt that it gets surpassed with the new playoff system. Stoops has never been the same since that game. Again he has a very good record, but he just can't win the big ones anymore. Do OU fans want to settle for 2nd best in their Conference? I doubt that.

The 3-4 defense is a real problem for coaches who don't know how to run it. We know Mike Stoops isn't going anywhere because he's family. But they need to get rid of coaches like Kish, Wright and bring in some coaches who specialize in the 3-4, including drafting players who fit that defense. It's a totally different scheme than the 4-3, and you have to draft players who fit it. Right now we don't have those players. Striker was a terror last year in the 4-3. You never even hear his named called this season because he's no longer a blitzer in this scheme. They need to demote Huepel back down to QB coach where he was doing a good job before, and bring in a hot new OC that can give this offense an identity. Right now OU doesn't know if they want to be a QB read option team or a Mike Leach type of offense. That's not going to fly against the better teams in the conference.

So Russ 1945 says it is the assistant Coaches and Coordinators fault. GOSooner says that OU has to decide what type of offense they want to run and get the proper type of personnel to play the new 3-4 defense because little bro is not going anywhere. What I get out of this is that Stoops has to start making some decisions. Is this basically the case in Norman? By the way, Colleges "sign" players. The NFL "drafts" players.

Does it really matter at this point? I like OU and hope that they can find a solid starting QB and get used to their new defense.

I expect a solid improvement out of Cody Thomas in his second start. He looked much better and more comfortable in the 4th quarter against Tech.

Every offensive player should look comfortable against Tech - on every play!

I expected Thomas to be in consideration for the Heisman after playing Tech, but unfortunately the Sooners OC who is short changed in the brains department decided to open the game up passing the ball all over the place with a rookie QB making his first road start in windy Lubbock. Not really a good recipe for success when you have a couple stud RB's. But that's how it's been with OU all season.
