I admit I used to hate on and ridicule gays if I ever ran into one but now I understand that they are no different than mentally handicapped people.

Sure they are committing sin and doing something disgusting and very wrong. Sure they act like if you aren't ok with their lifestyle you must be a homophobe who's insecure with themselves or just ignorant when the fact is you just don't like gays.

They just don't know any better than those with mental handicaps. They have a disorder/disease or some kinds of malfunction or missing some hormones or have too much of one kind that makes them think, act, and feel like they do.

I am saying this because an old co-worker I ran into who was actually contemplating suicide admitted to me he was gay. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time where he just had to let it out. He told me this at the mall where he was sitting by himself looking very strange so I came up and said hey. Wow did I not expect to hear the things he had to say.

It was all very enlightening. He works at a highly paid postion in the science field. He believes it's all hormones and stuff ''wiring'' inside that goes wrong in the fetus or babies or something that causes people to be gay. He says it's not a matter of choice he just ended up like this. He went on to say that his mother was extremely stressed out during birth and that somehow affected his makeup because of him ending up with more estrogen than he should or something like that. I'm not in the science field so I don't know how to summarize everything he told me.

My point is that he agrees that people need to work at finding a cure for it and treat it like a disease or disorder.

After talking with him I'm never going to treat a gay like shit or talk smack about them. I see now they really have a disorder and I feel bad for them like I do mentally handicapped people.

Anyways, that's all. Nomore hating on gays and next time I see that openly gay cashier at my local Safeway, I'm not going to make a point of muttering ''homo'' or ''fag'' to him.

They don't always mutter, and I don't, or didn't use to always just mutter, sometimes I would be more vocal and abrasive.

To answer you question though, I'm sure people do that everywhere. You should know that. Not just Winnipeg obviously. As for the words coons, ninjas and monday...LoL. What the hell?! Never heard of those terms. Is it old people sayings?

that shit wont fly where i live. if you call anyone anything you better have your fists ready at a minimum. same goes for ny.

just go up the highway to long beach and call a black, or a homosexual/transgender a name. see what happens.

all im saying is, i have my own life to live. i dont really care what others are doing and i judge people on a person to person basis. using slurs during a moment of hate is the easy way out for simple minds

It may or may not fly where you live but I guarantee it still happens everywhere.

Why is it ignorance when people don't agree with the gay lifestyle? It's just wrong, simple as that. It's not about being ignorant or tolerant.

Why would you compare being black to being gay. Are you kidding me? Obviously blacks were meant to be. Gay were not. There's a reason a penis fits into a vagina. Sticking it in the rear is not the way it's supposed to be.

Some gays choose to be gay, that is a fact.

Some gays choose to stop being gay, that is also a fact.

Some gays choose to be gay? Is that a fact? I'm not sure about that. Ah, whatever. I did my good deed for the year and told a gay guy not to off himself and to seek treatment.

agreed. it's the same approach i've adopted towards gays.. i.e. a relative amount of compassion without that emotion blinding me as to the parameters that science, mother nature, and God have clearly dictated for the survival of the human species.

Why is it ignorance when people don't agree with the gay lifestyle? It's just wrong, simple as that. It's not about being ignorant or tolerant.

agreed again.

the 'black vs. gay' argument is your typical lazy lib strawman, just ignore it everytime you see it. the fact is.. gays comprise 1-2% of the population, but by the way some of them militantly shove their agenda down our throats, you'd think it was over 50%.

when push comes to shove, however, everyone in their right mind (including most of those who 'support and defend' gays, including gay marriage) would agree that being gay certainly isn't 'meant to be' as you put it. the difference between the majority of gay supporters vs. the 'homophobes' simply lies in the approach in dealing with the problem. the first group believes an attempt at assimilation would be the easiest pc approach, whereas the later group would like to recognize and treat the problem for exactly what it's been diagnosed to be by the top psychologists in the field for over 50 years now.. a complex psychosomatic disturbance.

Maybe a few already killed themselves in part because of the way you used to act. Don't hurt your arm patting yourself on the back for telling a fellow human being that you think they shouldn't take their own life.

Where's that Nobel prize ballot when you need one.

Man, you guys all crack me up. I guess you're right. No Nobel prize for me.

Are you debating yourself? Your first post tells the story of how your co-worker tells you a story and you seem to believe that it's a disorder/mutation. In the same post, you say it's a sin. Now you call it a lifestyle.

So if a person is born with Tourette's syndrome and has outburts where they scream "Christ" or "Jesus Fuck", they are also sinners?

I get your point, I've been believing one thing for so long I had a slip of the tongue. It's a disorder/disease. It cannot be a sin because they don't know, exactly what they are doing or can't help it. It's still wrong, just like killing is wrong, but how much can you blame somebody if they are wired that way from birth? I don't know.

it's a sin, if you look at it from the christian perspective. same as a lot of other things. you are tempted, you know it's wrong, but you do it anyway. that's sin. what kills me is an interview a few years back where a preacher comes out of the closet and is like "it's okay, because times have changed".

i say, who the fuck are we to expect God to change for us? shouldn't it be the other way around?

don't trust a gay religious man.....

but also, in all fairness, sin = death, regardless of the sin. i wouldn't condone surfing the 'net for free porn as a righteous lifestyle, nor would i condone swearing as a righteous lifestyle (and i do my share of both), but it bugs the crap out of me to see gays trying to pass their lifestyles off as legitimate in christian life.

wrong why? is it because you dont like it, or because your religion frowns upon it? even if that is true, who is to say whats wrong and right. the government doesnt halt gay activity (barney frank would flip) does that mean the government is wrong?

i compare black to gays because they both deal with immense amounts of hatred.

true, a penis fits in a vagina, but it also fits in the rear. :ohno:
