I would absolutely love to see a shuttle launch (the old Saturn V launches would have been even more impressive, but I was just a tyke in those days), but I've never made it down for one. I did watch one come over Texas during a nighttime re-entry back in the late '90s. My buddies and I were outside watching for it, and none of us were prepared for just how fast it was moving. We watched the streak go all the way across the sky and it was that sensation of SPEED that most impressed me.
