TraderMike's Inaugural NFL 2009 Season Outcry Plays

Gentlemen, the NFL is one place I have had success over the years as a gambler and, instead of continuing to tail some of the great cappers here in RX, I will be making my handicapping debut this 2009 NFL season. Even though it's just one sport, at least I feel like I'm contributing. Don't get it wrong, though, I plan to have success. I trade for a living, so I'll be using an open outcry theme when I make my plays. I learned some great mm over th years and here in the RX, so I will be using a 1 unit system equal to 2% of my bankroll. The most that you will ever see me wager is 2 units, and the least is .5 units; however, almost all of my plays will be for 1 unit. I will keep all plays on this thread and will be going down with the ship if the inaugural season turns out to be a bad trade. So, fade, follow, comment, or ignore... either way I'll be here. As far as my plays are concerned, I've been hitting the books and brushing up on the stats, so I like to think my approach will have a good statistical base; however, I won't pull the trigger on a play unless I can get behind it with my knowledge and feel for the game. Oh yeah, GO BEARS!!

Week 2 Preseason

I BUY: Bears O 34.5

Although I don't have any 1 unit plays for the preseason, and have been tailing MJ's system for preseason plays, I do have a half unit opinion play on the Bears V. Giants tomorrow. Some say don't wager on your favorite team, I say that if you do it objectively it is an advantage. The Bears' Secondary is banged up and have no depth. Nathan Vasher is an absolute joke an I expect Eli and co. to score at least once with their first team; in addition, i see no problem in the air for their second team. Also, I expect Cutler to redeem himself for the home crowd after a dissapointing first showing last week. I think he will get his chance too as the Bears' improved o-line is still under the radar. Who knows who the hell will win this stupid exhibition, but I really like the over as a small opinion play.

GL Mike. The Giants really favored the run last week (leading most of the way) so I think they may not stray too much from that this week if the game stays close. The Bears favored the pass versus the Bills (trailing in the 4th), but may look to be more balanced here if they can. The Giants' starting defense is looking ferocious this year -- I'm kind of thinking the Bears with Cutler won't get too pass happy versus the Giants' 1st string defense, as that would poise a serious risk to Cutler's health. They'd be better served running the ball and saving Cutler's breakout preseason game for the week #3 game at Denver. Cutler will obviously want to get it done in that game, lol.

Cruncher, I hear you. However, I think that the Bears will try to get Cutler to spread the ball around more than he did last week as part of the game plan as well as give their Pace/Williams tackle combo a real tryout against a very good d-line. As far as the Giants, I would think they would want to switch gears and test out their mediocre receivers against a horrible bears secondary(i think it is that bad right now). However, if they do stick to the run game in the 1Q they will be up against one of the better run defenses in the NFC (I believe they were 6th overall against the run last year if I am not mistaken); so, my over would be in trouble. Just a small play on small edge I perceive.Thanks for the input I'm glad to see someone actually read my thread hahaha.

It's gonna be great. I am staying so far away from that game...

I think the Bears and the Packers are going to be the best 2 teams in the NFC North. I just see the Vikings imploding for some reason...

I realize that I am a Bears fan, but this is an objective opinion. Broncos amount to a nice pile of cow dung this season and no BM. also, Cutler will be looking to keep least week's success going with a chip on his shoulder.
