Although being a Cubs fan, I do not like Dusty nor their pitching coach. Steve Stone made a comment on 670 The Score in Chicago that Kerry Wood may have 3-4 yrs left as a thrower, or he could extend his career if he became a pitcher. That should have been addressed by a good pitching coach. Zambrano continues to be nut case. He's still too immature to be as successful as he can be. He needs to control his emotions and that is the coaching staff's responsibility. Baker's laid back, players' butt kissing is not going to amount into World Series' rings. He likes veteran players as that way he just plugs them in and lets their previously acquired skills do the job. if I were a rookie with potential, I would not care to play for him as I wouldn't develop under his watch. He's a phony when it comes to mangerial skills. Look at all the BS that went on in last years clubhouse. Dusty's being handed a paycheck based on their GM's skills of acquiring talent. As far as Dusty pulling Zambrano, I really doubt he did it on his own. He got a lot of heat last year for his poor handling of pitchers. I like their move of getting rid of Sarge Matthews as a hitting coach. He was a notorious bad ball hitter as a player. That made sense to then make him a batting coach.:monsters-
In spite of a having a below par in game strategist, I hope the Cubs do well. If the Cubs had the hated LaRussa, more people would be picking them to win it all. It's not a curse, just bad decisions.
