I can't understand why no one is bringing up the stupidity of Toronto manager complaining about Bauer's bleeding hand in the first inning. He was clearly struggling with control walking two. So, you've got two runners on with an obviously ailing pitcher and you bail cleveland out by bringing attention to it. Maybe he walks the next guy or surrenders a hit. If i'm the manager I'll take my chances with a wounded opponent than with a fresh arm out of the bull pen. One of the dumbest moves ever.

He wanted Bauer out before they had time to try and close it up between innings for him. He and every other manager would have taken their chances will a 8-1/3 inning bullpen. Besides, you start getting blood and things on the baseball and the pitcher can start to do make that ball do things he can't oriiginally do

No offense, but that's ridiculous.

I don't know how stitches keep that cut closed when your trying to throw a fastball at 95mph. He wasn't going to make it another inning even if he had it looked at. Superglue and stitches wouldn't keep that cut together.
Good point on the blood changing the dynamics of the ball in play. That would be reason enough for him to bring attention to it but I thought he lost command of the ball ready. That cut was dripping at a good rate.
We can criticize the man but end of the day it was the cold bats of the Jays that couldn't do anything.

. No it's not really, your judgement and mind is just clouded by being on the wrong side of the bet.

I guarantee you every manager in the game will like their chances to win a game better if the opposing team has to go to the bullpen in the first inning, EVERY manager.

You our also must consider from the batters eye, as he's trying to pick up a baseballs spin from the red stitches, he's picking up blood in the air as well, creating a distraction.

While he's hurting, you keep him down & in the game. Dumb move by Gibbons.

I had no play. I am in fact an Indians fan. I think it was stupid. My reasoning is clear.

Go grab a baseball. OF ALL the pitches thrown your pinky is used or even needed on maybe only the circle change and I am not even sure if Bauer throws that pitch. I highly doubt he was hurting because pain meds are allowed to some extent.

It still comes down to you getting a substance on the ball and you can make that ball do things it normally wouldn't along with you are deceiving the batters eyes when the ball is released. Gibbons was hoping his big bats could take it to the Indians Bullpen and he was wrong. He has shown previously to make bad managing decisions and either way you slice this one he was probably wrong. That being said, those big bats had multiple opportunities to capitalize later in the game with runners on and could not.

Whos to say Francona wouldn't have taken him out as soon as Jays scored?? Cant look at this one way. I am 100% certain as soon as he saw him pitching erratically Francona would have gone to the bullpen. He would have allowed max 2 runs before doing it so no point talking about this as a one way coaching decision.

You're a lying sack of "Homer" wannabe cow dung, barely able to scrape enough table scraps to get into a Browns game. And Jack Bauer and his bleeding "heart" finger are just lame excuses for the ineptness of Cleveland sports. Might be another 100 years before they win another title.............

I doubt the umpire would have let him go much further. That thing was leaking pretty bad
