Toronto president Brendan Shanahan has hired a new general manager (Lou Lamoriello) and a new coach (Mike Badcock.) He also has reshaped the hockey department and scouting department. Badcock, was given an 8 year, $50 million contract after leading Detroit to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of his ten seasons.

It amazes me that Toronto, maybe the greatest hockey city in the NHL has not won a Stanley Cup since 1967. Last year the Leafs finished 15th in the Eastern Conference with a 30-44-8 record.

Really like the Badcock hire and the changes Shanahan is makings. Now can the Maple Leafs become a contender???????

Of course they will be, every long term successful franchise starts at the top and goes down the man behind the bench. The players are just interchangeable chess pieces. If you can't have a successful team behind the scenes you will never have one on the ice.

10-4 Adam.

I like the leadership Toronto has at the top.

Watch how they get rid of some of the 'big contract' overrated guys.

But right now the only talent is in the front office and behind the bench.
