Top Secert security clearance and offshore accounts ????

Anyone here have a top-secret clearance and have an offshore account?

I only have used locals and I am thinking about opening an offshore account. I am currently under investigation for a top-secret DOD security clearance. Just wondering if it is a good idea to open an account or just stick with locals.

If you are paranoid, better to wait until the investigation is over. If they can look at your computer activity as part of the investigation, you 100% want to wait.

Thanks for the response. Yeah. I am paranoid. Don't want to lose my job over gambling. I almost opened the account but got real anxious when I was about to submit the info.

I am thinking about a small account with pinnacle. Is it an issue to open the account under pinnacle using my GF info? Does that mean she has to manage the Net teller accounts etc?

BTW I heard that it is safe and good book. Is that true? Which SB has good customer support, safe, and decent lines? Any recommendations.

all they are going to do is interview your neighbors, family and co-workers. they may ask them of names of other people you are friends with and check those names against the list of friends you gave them as references. they will then interview the people that do not appear on both lists.

the questions they will ask will be along the lines of: drinking/drug habits, gambling/money problems, women/sexual activities, travel/vacation spots.

BTW even letting people know you are being considered to have a ts is a violation and you could be denied based solely on that.

they should have told you that 10 or 15 times during the intial interview.

I have not had an initial interview. I filled out a 50-page questionnaire and background check form about 5 months ago. No one has told me NOT to say I am under investigation or even contacted me since. All they said was I have to wait for 12-14 months to get processed and interviewed. They will contact me when they are ready.

first step is to fill out a SF86 and a SF86a

both are only one or two pages long (an office max job application is longer)

depending on the outcome of that process and the position you will be working, will determine how much clearence you will get or need.

I filled out a sf86 which was about 50 pages of forms that we did online using some gov software. It was much shorter when we printed it out. I did a 2 page background check also. I am going for 10 year TS no poly.

Could be military, could be government.

Or you could be working for a company that does business with the military/govt.

I have never heard of a 10 year clearence, and it is not likely you would be told what kind of clearence you would need to perform your job before the fact.

When applying for a position that requires clearence they will ask you to fill out the sf86 and leave it at that.

Only after you receive clearence do you learn what level you have.

you can't "go for" a clearence, 10 year-no poly-double backgound-3 interview-super TS with confidential privilages and for your eyes only clearence only exsist in the movies.

I had both a TS and also an SCI clearance. They are no longer needed in my case.

I had no problems with the gambling. They asked me and I told them that I gambled recerationally off shore and at casinos and they had no problem with this. They did check out my financial situation (bank accounts etc) and determined that I was not in debt nor would have a need to do something desperate to get money. I don't think you will have a problem so long as you can explain it

If you are worried, then no need to hurry. I do not think you will have a problem as long as your business stays in your hands and no others are aware.

Maybe I was not clear. I work for a very large consulting company in the Defense system industry. I already have a job. I am not applying for one. We have around 12 software engineering projects that we are working on in our group. Some classified some are not. I am on one's that are NOT.

I am under investigation to be able to do SW dev on classified projects. I was told by my employer to fill out the paper work to apply for a Top Secret clearance. I know exactly what the project does that I will be working on when I get the clearance. I just am not allowed to look at the code or documentation.

I filled out a SF86 that allows them to go back and investigate for 10 years (The clearance does not last 10 years). If you want secret they investigate 7 years of your past.

This clearance requires no poly as stated on the SF86.

But anyway I decided to not to open an account. Just does not seem like a good time.
