**ABOVE AVERAGE PLAY ON:

Boston College -7 (EZ 27-7 WINNER!)

-Oh Boy, it seems that the whole world and all its ancestors are on this UCONN team who frankly to me, is good, but they really havent done enough, in my opinion, to back them against a consistantly solid Big East team like BC...In fact, BC since the start of the new millenium has been the most consist team winning all of its post season bowl games in the last 4 seasons something no other school can claim...Still, this team gets no respect from year to year mainly due to there playing in the shadows of Miami and Va Tech...Well, these two schools have since departed to the ACC Conf and now BC has the opportunity to shine a little brighter and take their program to the Top of the Big East Conf...Today is their first step to doing just that...

Now many publications have picked BC to finish behind this UCONN team in the Big East and I think this is not sitting to good with BC after what they have proven to do the last 4 seasons...Not to mention, that BC is also 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS vs UCONN the last 3 years, and have outscored them by an average of 34-11...

BC has been able to take care of the Huskies because of their ability to pound the ball behind that huge O-Line and behind some solid defensive play...Tonight, I see not much of a different style of play by BC which will lead to another win both SU and ATS vs UCONN...

UCONN's Offense behind QB Orlovsky is solid, as he is one of the best QB's in the Big East this year, if not the best...and this Offense does return 9 starters from last years team...QB Orlovsky has also thrown 61 TD passes, only second to Hawaii's Timmy Chang...and he has averaged 336 ypg (67%) with a 6-3 ratio...But, on the opposite end, BC's QB Peterson though only averaging 167 ypg, did complete 65% of his attempts and with a 4-1 ratio...

BC this season returns 5 starters on Offense, and they will need to replace All Big East RB in Derrick Knight and three of their Big Uglies up front...but like every year, they always seem to come up with another solid RB, as well as, another huge formidable Big Uglies Unit, which has become a trademark of this Golden Eagle squad so I am not to worried about last seasons departures...In fact, this year BC redshirt Freshman RB Callender, who had a storied HS career is expect to create big things of his own....BC will also have the advantage of having two capable QB's in Peterson and Porter to run the show and they will be deep in the WR area as they return 4 of their top 5 WRs from last season...Coach O'Brien is from the ranks of the NFL so he knows the value of the play action pass and having capable WR corp to throw to is very much a positive advantage to have at his disposal...

As for this BC defense...they return 6 starters from last season, but they will possess the Big East's best secondaries and they showed their athleticism in last weeks win over Penn St as they came up with 4 ints against the Nittany Lions Offense...This is a solid positive for BC in this one as UCONN will depend mainly on the arm of QB Orlovsky to get them the win...If the Golden Eagles can hold this UCONN team to continue its poor 3.4 ypr which they have averaged in their last two games vs Duke and Murray ST...and play stuffing run defense like they did holding Penn St to just 73 yards on the ground, which I think they can...I say that QB Ovlovsky and this UCONN team will meet their first taste of defeat and be sent right down to the pack of the overrated...

BC has the decided advantage over this UCONN team on both sides of the ball, but especially on the defensive side and that should be huge in this one as they are also at home tonight...UCONN dominates the Golden Eagles on the basketball court, but it is the other way around on the gridiron as BC has not lost to the Huskies yet and has a record of 9-0-2 over them...Tonight the Golden Eagles roll over their nearby rival again and get another solid Eagle win to start the Big East Conf race...Go Eagles!

-Ok Gang...lets start this weekend off to another positive start...I may be up later with this Saturday's card, so check back later if interested...Until then, lets do some damage with this BAD BOY...Good luck to All and LETS GO GET EM!...ALOHA CC.

Well mhk...it is a bit misleading...but as I explained to another poster here...most of these posts came from me congradulating and giving out well wishes, answering questions, supporting others, and helping others out when I first started...And the majority of these posts were during the CBB and MLB season as there is games on a daily basis and not just on the weekends...So during the long season, and on a daily basis, it is ez to exceed 15 post a day, especially if your threads like mine get a lot of visitors...

BTW, dont worry my friend...surfing, diving , and fishing is something that I get plenty of...I also am spending a lot of time on my golf game as well...Living the life in Hawaii is SWEEEEET.....Come and join me sometime when your out my way...I show you a great Hawaiian Style Vacation...GL tonight and Aloha CC.

Why wouldn't you buy 1/2 point in this situation?

I'm not judging just trying to learn more

You know me. I love the Bows (or Warriors, or whatever) but am completely disgusted with June Jones. I have been a season ticket holder since the 80's and a Koa Anunue Nui member since the 90's. Believe me, there are plenty in Koa Anunue who would love to fire his greedy H ass.

Every wage earning man and woman in this state is paying an extra $50 a year in taxes to support Jones' salary. No joke. Do the math if you don't believe me.

I usually only buy the half point to take off that hanging tail (.5pt)...I havent had much success and have been burned by leaving it on in some close games...but that is just me and what makes me feel comfortable with regards to certain lines...no real strong scientific strategy behind it...GL CC.

I understand all your complaints and concerns regarding what is going on...In fact, I almost accepted a partial scholarship to play for the Warriors, when they were once called the Rainbows, but decided to go to the mainland to spread my wings...Anyways, being born and raised here in the islands and coaching at my HS in the past...I definately can see how you can be upset with how he is doing things these day...I sure am...I come from a coaching and playing family and its hard to see the Warriors with that much talent being wasted on stupid ass play calling...

But, I also have a lot of close ties with a lot of the Boys as well, including Timmy and let me just tell you that it is not these guys faughts at what is going on...These guys play their hearts out for their family and friends unlike many others on the mainland...Hawaii is special and you should know that....I think that Coach Jones, who brought a lot of attention to this Hawaii program may have run his end, inregards to what he can do to contiually make it a program that is continually improving....

I dont know maybe the addition of Davis, the father of the run and shoot, will help out...I think we should give it some time though...Dont worry ppeter...I think we will turn things around this year...and after Timmy gets the record for Jones and Hawaii and makes it old news, then Jones will have his work cut out for him...We will see how he responds...Maybe your right and his time, post Timmy Chang days, are numbered....GL and Aloha CC.

Release Date: 08/05/04

HONOLULU - University of Hawai'i head football coach June Jones announced today that Darrell "Mouse" Davis has been hired as an assistant coach in charge of special teams.

"He is one of the best coaches I have ever been around, and he'll help us immensely not only with special teams but in other areas," Jones said. "He has been like a mentor to me, and I think our players will really respond to him."
Davis, best known as the "Father of the Run-and-Shoot" offense, replaces Tyson Helton who left earlier in the year to take a similar position at the University of Memphis in charge of tight ends and special teams.

"I'm very excited about joining June and the Warriors," Davis said via telephone. "This is a very close-knit group of friends - it's like `old home week.'"

The 71-year-old was the head coach of the 2004 San Diego Riptide of the arenafootball2 league that finished tied for second in the West Division with the Hawaiian Islanders.

This is the fifth time that Jones and Davis have worked together on the same coaching staffs, including stints with USFL's Houston Gamblers (1984) and Denver Gold (1985), and the NFL's Detroit Lions (1989-1990) and Atlanta Falcons (1994-96). Jones also played for Davis at Portland State University.

Davis, who graduated with a B.S. in elementary education from Western Oregon University, was a three-sport letterman in football, basketball and baseball, earning All-America recognition at quarterback and running back.

"You have as much fun as you have wins," Davis said. "And I can't wait to tee it up and get after it beginning September 4."

Davis arrives in the islands Sunday, Aug. 8, the first day that the Warriors report to camp.
