a beer is usually $1.50 on supermarkets or cheap bars.... it goes up to $3 or $4 in expensive places or restaurants....

pizza... with all on it, could be around $15 or less

Olio Pub y Restaurante in Barrio Escalante is quite good and very fast.

Miramonte at La Condesa was very slow but extremely good.

I haven't eaten at Jürgen's in San Pedro, nor La Bastille on Paseo Colon in years, but they were both good, and I haven't seen them mentioned here.

Adam, took the wife to Jurgen's last year and really enjoyed the food and service.

maybe i should come down and open a nice little italian resturant with some ny style pizza
and all homemade pasta(even make my own lasagna noodles for the lasagnas)
probaly cost a fortune to set up down there huh?

and i can still do my handicapping and betting while im lying on the beach drinking cold ones all day

JoeyP-The upfront cost getting off the ground is not expensive, however doing business in this country can be very difficult. Lying on the beach drinking cold ones will not be an option to be successful. You will need to put in a few years of hard work before getting time to fit in the "dream", but anything is possible. I for one would enjoy a solid NY style pizza! :103631605

JoeyP-Tons of Italians in Costa Rica and have been for a long time and of course tons of Italian restaurants as well. Some of these are excellent.

Thief's can come in many different forms down here so its important to keep an eye on ALL aspects of the business including security. Have you ever been to Costa Rica?

Time for an update
1. La Olivos- Still the best value in town, Great Italian food, very reasonable prices.
2. Zamora Estates - The have the best Costa Rican chef. He takes CR recipes and gives them pizazz. Beautiful location and friendly atmosphere.
3. El Punto- New place. Incredible food. Small portions and pricey, but worth it. Dishes and flavors you just won't find anywhere else down here.
4. Lorenzo's- Best steaks down here. The have a world class veal chop. Also pricey.
5. The Tap House- Best BBQ and burgers in San Jose. The brisket sandwich on the pretzel roll is off the board.
