I was at the bar with about 10 people in NYC, Team USA scores to take the lead 2-1 in the 81st minute and the place goes absolutely bananas!!! Beer is spraying around, people chanting USA-USA! Regulation time ends, 4 minutes of injury time is past, I start looking for the waitress to order a round of shots...

Then that bald sonofabitch Bradley turns the ball over like he had been doing all game and Portugal scores to tie it... Whole room instantly deflated, within 5 minutes the bar was empty. I stood there for a good 10 minutes trying to figure out what happened.

One kick, one header, and 30 seconds away from a $1500 swing. It's not the biggest $ lost in the past, and it wont be the biggest in the future, but for a big dog to get that so close to a payout in a game like soccer where goals are hard to come by, it was definitely the worst bad beat I've ever suffered.

Oh well, just thought you guys of all people could relate. On to the next game.

Sorry man. I'll tell you about the worst poker beat I've ever taken, maybe it will make you feel better.

I held AA, flop was A 7 3, all the chips got in the middle. He had A 7 and it came 7, 7. I never thought about this til now but mathematically the worst beat you can take in hold'em.

Hope that made you feel better?

Get 'em next time.

Pk +230ish is ALWAYS the play on a soccer dog such as this.

Not trying to be critical, but I agree. It's usually a good idea to back a bet like that up with something more conservative. Like +0.5 goals at +100 odds for 2 units and take the big odds for 1 unit, as an example.

Tough loss for sure. Bradley should've just booted the ball out of bounds, so everyone could get back.

+0.5 +100 works as well Sun Dodger. If the dog wins outright though, it's like kissing your sister on the +0.5 action. BUT, I see you have two + signs in your wager. That Sir, will never hurt your account.

We have all been there ivy. If it makes you feel any better we all can relate to what that feels like. Anyone that says anything critical to a guy after he's had his heart ripped out just isn't right in the head. A very small percentage of the public would even know what that type of loss is like because so few people understand sports gambling.

What i've been trying to do the past 6 months that has worked out well is to take both the wins and losses with very little emotion. If you don't let yourself get too high on the wins it really helps dull the losses. Take a very level headed, business approach to betting and it seems to help with the pain of this kind of sick beat.

Hang in there man, time heals all in sports betting.

Sorry to see (hear) about that. You'll get it back, I'm sure. When you do win one like that, make sure you post that as well.

I suffered a loss the other day and haven't been back to the table yet and it was all my fault. I held A-2 and there was no pre-flop raise. Flop comes down 3-4-5 and she bets $15 and I raise to around $45. She goes all in and I call. About a $800 pot. She turns over 6-7. A bad call by me.

I'm not sure it was a bad call. I would have probably put her on a small set. Was she in the BB?

Your biggest mistake was not the call but limping with A2.

Just sayin

Man you type slow bro.

jk

Yea it sucks it seems. But not being a soccer guy I don't know how to relate how much of a bb this is comparative to other sports.
How often are soccer bets lost like this?

Is it the equivalent of a closer blowing a save in the 9th inning?
Are is it equivalent to something much worse like a 80 yard Hail Mary with no time left.

I disagree a little bit HC. I'm not raising that often with A2 off. Maybe 2 out of 10 times. About 4 hands earlier I held a QJ and flopped 8-9-10 and took about $200 as he held KK so I was feeling good. Can't remember if I was in the BB or not. I've tried to forget the hand.

Definitely more like this. The US had it, and fell asleep in the last 30 sec.

Howard could've come out and punched the ball away. Plenty of blame to go around.

Yea that hand depends on your position. I don't know what position you were in so I have no opinion of the way you played the hand preflop. I do like your 2 bet after the flop. A lot of people will incorrectly slow play that hand after the flop. That's a big mistake.

My mistake was not folding when a person reraised me all in and me holding the low straight after the flop. Looking back, I should've known what she held.
