Had time to clear my mind the past couple days after a disheartening cold streak. Time to right the ship today...

YTD: 1-6

CHICAGO CUBS -1.5 (-125)

Both teams have been cold, but the Cubs have more to play for right now. They've lost 5 in a row, and have fallen 4.5 games behind the Cards. They know that if they even wanna think about the playoffs, they have to beat up on teams like Pittsburgh. Buckos are essentially throwing a Triple-A team out there after their mid-season firesale, which has undoubtedly killed many of their players' morale. Randy Wells has been an impressive pitcher for the Cubs this year, and if he had any kind of run support, his record could be a lot better than 8-5. I think he gets that run support today with Aramis probable for the game. Cubs roll. Good luck everyone! Should have some more coming later.

Yeah, he's not bad but the WHIP is a little high, imo (1.43). Pitchers who live dangerously like that usually get burned sooner or later. It hasn't happened often yet, judging by his nice ERA, but combined with the fact that Pittsburgh is a bad road team and the Cubs need this win, I'm willing to take my chances going against Morton. BOL Jack!

Big win with the Cubs. Next...

ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS -101

Dan Haren has been uncharacteristic in his last few starts, especially away from Chase Field. Still, his numbers this year have been dominant. Even though he's been hit pretty hard in his last four starts, he still has a WHIP of 0.89 for the season. All pitchers deviate from their long-term stats over the course of a 162-game season, and it's only a matter of time before they return to form. With the Dodgers bats struggling lately, I think tonight is the night that Haren turns things around and returns to his dominant form. Kershaw has been struggling lately as well, but the difference is, he is 21 years old and has not pitched a complete Major League season like Haren has. I expect Kershaw to continue to struggle against a team that has been better offensively recently. Dodgers have lost all 4 of Kershaw's last 4 starts, and Haren is a tough draw the day after facing Tim Lincecum. Look for the Dodgers bats to stay cold here and the D'Backs get it done. Good luck everyone!
