Batista is hitting .230 this year. Other than a couple seasons, he has been a CRAPPY hitter. Yet he continues to use that stance. It obviously isn't working!

anyone remember Julio Franco's?! I always used to imatate his. he held the bat level to the ground. . . .counsel's is awful, he looks like a bitch that had her back blown out. what a spastic stance. he has to swing so much earlier since he is holding the bat so far out. . .those extra split seconds more than likely costs him the ability to read some pitches.

The guy is near 200 homers and hitting over.250 for his career, he must be doing something right with that stance to still be around the league making good dough...

He is getting paid because of his 1999 (26 homers, .285) and 2000 (41 homers, .263) seasons.

Since then, Batista has hit .207, .266, .244, .235, .230.

Could you imagine being a pro athlete? You have 1-2 decent seasons (especially in a contract year), and you'll probably get at least $20-30 million, regardless of your future performance.

Was it Jeff Bagwell who looked like he was squatting and on his tippy toes at the same time?

RobF, I was watching a Braves game last year and when the announcer said Julio Franco was up, my jaw dropped. I thought the guy retired years ago after playing for the Tribe. The guys is still playing.

I think it was the same week that I learned Mike Morgan was still pitching for the Dbacks at the age of 42. The guy broke into the bigs in 1978 at 18.
