Anybody been following Ferrer lately?
He won in Brazil on Sunday and then jetted to Mexico to play on Tuesday. He didn't cover the cap against Sizzle and Macko in back-to-back matches and he's clearly fatigued. Throw in the fact players exhaust themselves quickly in Acapulco in the conditions and he's playing Tomic who has a decent serve, this should be a great chance for the cap.
Year to date ACES: 174-35 in favor of Tomic
Year to date DF's: 20-40 in favor of Tomic
I saw Ferrer' match against Macko and he should've lost the 1st set. He was down 0-40 at 4-5* and got a lucky net chord in one of the points. And Macko is trash. Macko broke him two times in a row in that 1st set to put himself in the position to take the set. Ferrer should've cruised in the 2nd, but he let Macko make holds and break him back. If his energy stores were full, Macko would've been nailed 6-1 or 6-2 in that set. But Ferrer is tired.
In the after-match interview Ferrer confessed he is tired.
Pre-match: Happily taking +4.0
LIVE: I'll post in here when is the best time to jump in.
Ferrer shouldn't win by more than 4 games here. Absolute maximum is 5 games. In that scenario he'd likely take it 6-3, 6-4 by serving first in the 1st set.
