Calling all doughnut lovers: Friday is your day to “have another doughnut,” and help a worthy cause!
National Doughnut Day has been celebrated on the first Friday in June every year since 1938. It was originally established by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.
To mark the occasion, Shipley’s Donuts will be giving away a free glazed doughnut and small coffee to customers from 5 a.m. to noon.
Dunkin’ Donuts stores nationwide will offer a free doughnut with the purchase of any beverage in honor of the day.
