Just watching the Calgary game, puck goes in but the ref does not see it go in. Calgary player shoots the puck over the glass for a 2 min minor. Go to the replay and the goal is good. anything up to the whistle counts so the 2 min minor stands.

If Calgary takes the puck back down the ice and scores before the whistle blows what happens?

Tough one here. I always wondered what would happened if a team scores 2 goals on the same time without a stoppage in play with the previous goal pending to be reviewed. You would think they both would have to count 2 goals scored right?

i agree with you, BUT why should the minor count?

If both goals arent counted that thats saying that all the things that occur with the previous goal pending to be reviewed shouldnt count so therefore the minor shouldnt no kidding! Very contradictory hmmm

I believe everything that happens before the whistle counts; penalties, shots, goals, etc.

Similar thing happened in the Colorado game last night. A near goal, no whistle, then a legit goal (both by COL). After the legit goal, they reviewed the previous play (no goal).

What would happen if the reviewed goal was infact a goal? Would it be 2 goals counted though?

Spmething's wrong here. If a goal is scored but goes unnoticed until a stoppage and replay is consulted that shows a goal was scored, the game clock reverts to the time when the goal was scored and anything that occurs after that is null and void. That is supposed to be the rule. Don't know what happened in Calgary game.

ok i got it.

78.6 Video Review - No goal may be awarded (or disallowed) as a result
of video review once the puck has been dropped and play has
resumed following the first stoppage of play after the potential goal.
See Rule 39.
When a team scores an apparent goal that is not seen by the onice
officials and play continues, the play shall be reviewed by the
Video Goal Judge at the next stoppage of play. If the goal is confirmed
by video review, the clock is re-set to the time the goal was scored. If
the goal is not confirmed by video review, no adjustment is required to
the clock time.
Only one goal can be awarded at any stoppage of play. If the
apparent goal was scored by Team A, and is subsequently confirmed
as a goal by the Video Goal Judge, any goal scored by Team B during
the period of time between the apparent goal By Team A and the
stoppage of play (Team B’s goal), the Team B goal would not be
awarded. However, if the apparent goal by Team A is deemed to have
entered the goal, albeit illegally (i.e. distinct kicking motion), the goal
shall be disallowed by the Video Goal Judge and since the play
should have stopped for this disallowed goal, no goal can be awarded
to Team B on the same play. The clock must be re-set to the time of
the disallowed Team A goal and play resumed.

There is more to the rule that I have added for you DM

Any penalties signaled during the period of time between the
apparent goal and the next stoppage of play shall be assessed in the
normal manner, except when a minor penalty is to be assessed to the
team scored upon, and is therefore nullified by the scoring of the goal.
If an infraction happens after the first stoppage of play following an
apparent goal (infraction after the whistle) by either team, it is
assessed and served in the normal manner regardless as to the
decision rendered by the Video Goal Judge.

It has happened a couple of times this week. In the Caps/YB game yesterday, Recchi scored a goal which was not immediately awarded and play continued, even tho Recchi knew he scored and both Caps announcers thought it was a goal. It must have been reviewed quickly because the horn sounded even before there was a stoppage and then the goal was awarded. Clock was reset to that time.
