I'm having a wonderful day. The only thing I'm missing is a recap of your 15 reasons why Philadelphia would win.

I know it would be too painful to rehash all you explainations. Boy, were you way off base.

I hope in the end my simple reasons for a Carolina win changed your mind.

Maybe we'll be on the same side in the super bowl.

McNabb was injured on a dirty play that should've been flagged. The wideouts didn't catch the ball. The Panthers had little to do with this victory other than being the team on the other side of the ball.

The Arizona Cardinals would've won this game if they were the opponent. Most of my reasons were valid. The Panthers didn't do anything to win that game.

Good luck in the Super Bowl.

1. Philly's been there before...this is new to Carolina.
1a. Obviously being new to this didn't bother the Panthers. But Carolina had little to do with the victory.

2. McNabb is a better QB than Delhomme.
2a. He still is...Delhomme threw one wounded quail for a TD. That's all he did.

3. Staley and Buck will have a great day running on a Carolina D Line that is built for the pass rush. Ask the Packers about 9 yards a carry Staley.
3b. Averaged over 5 yards a carry vs Panthers only 3.9 per carry.

4. Carolina's secondary is not as good as Green Bay's...and McNabb torched GB. Pinkston, Thrash, Lewis, Smith, Mitchell and the backs will get open and make plays.
4b. I was partly wrong here as our receivers embarrassed the franchise. But tipped balls for INT's aren't anything exciting. The Panthers did well but Arizona could've done well the way they played.

5. Eagles were in the red zone 5 times against Carolina in Carolina. They will be in the red zone more than that at home.
5b. They were in the red zone enough times to win this game.

6. They have no answer for McNabb's scrambling.
6b. They didn't...they had to injure him on a dirty play to keep him contained.

7. Troy Vincent feels very, very good and can cover ANY of the Carolian wideouts one-on-one. The defense will have a field day blitzing the Panthers.
7b. He can..Vincent did a good job in coverage. He wasn't beaten for any big plays or any TD's.

8. Stephen Davis is questionable. Even if he plays he will not be 100 percent. Davis and Foster combined don't have the talent of Ahman Green. Green got his yards but was kept out of the end zone. Expect more of the same.
8b. Davis was average at best. Foster was ok but not great. Their offense was pretty anemic and vanilla.

9. The Eagles defense was worse off in the win at Carolina than they are now. Taylor struggled in his first game back after missing the previous 5 and 9 of the previous 10. He will not struggle Sunday with his partner in crime back in the secondary.
9b. The defense played well enough to win. One wounded duck for a TD and bad tackling in the 2nd half hurt them but they didn't lose this game.

10. Davis ran for 115 yds on 23 carries against the Birds. But when it counted Davis was stopped (4th and 1 at the 8 yard line right at the end of the first half). Eagles defense will continue to play that way...bend but don't break.
10b. They were bend but don't break. They broke on one wounded duck pass and one poor tackling play in the 2nd half but otherwise the D played good enough to win.

11. Dawkins is healthy. Enough said.
11b. He didn't play the wounded duck well but that's not his fault. Taylor admits he was the one to blame.

12. January 27th, 2002
12b. The first loss and their best effort in this game.

13. January 19th, 2003
13b. The second loss..a bad one but this one was worse.

14. David Akers will outkick Kasay any day of the week.
14b. He did...Akers 3 points Kasay 2.

15. Nobody has ever hosted back-to-back conference championship games and lost them both.
15b. Until now...it's a shame the way they played yesterday but nothing can be done now.

Hope this clears it up buzz.

I understand your Heart Ache SB, I really do. And I also repsect your loyality and Love for your team.

As a Fan against Philly, I am just happy the home field cannot be an excuse for opposing teams anymore. You know that was my joy on week 1

As far as why the Eagles lost, was because they looked as they knew they were going to lose on the first minute of the game. They were never emotionally in it. I truly believe the pressure that team feels, and all the controversy around them, they bought into some of it. McNabb's injury had nothing to do with the outcome. This is a team that wins playground style and this is historic for this franchise, I like Mcnabb, you know I have proclaimed that. I think he needs to move on, But he probably will not, and

unfortunately this story gets worse

THIS TEAM WILL BE LUCKY TO WIN 7 GAMES NEXT YEAR.

You are RIGHT about one thing, the WR and TE's for the Eagles are some of the worst in the game. Thrash used to be a threat...no longer

And UCLA kid, is a once and awhile kind of player.....LEON like

And Tight Ends, I could not even name one. SO maybe rebuilding in that area will help, but EXPECT the doormat of the NFC EAST to be in your backyard next year.

Can't believe your not giving Carolina any credit for the way Philly played.

1. They knew philly's running game was not going to hurt them.

2. Containing McNabb was #1 goal.

3. Make McNabb throw from the pocket.

4. Ricky Manning (a rookie) caught more passes than any plilly.

5. The rushing yards are skewed because Carolina only throw the ball 14 times. They knew philly could not stop them.

Carolina punched Philly in the mouth and philly did'nt respond. It was a dominating victory.

How many teams have won two games on the road to get to the super bowl?

Patriots won 3 on the road to get to the Bears in the 85 season for one...

Eagles had:

More first downs...

More total yards...

More yards per carry...

More passing yards...

Half as many punts...

Less penalties...

But they lost where it counted...the scoreboard. Carolina didn't exactly "dominate" this game.

Man SB you are an EAGLES fan no doubt still selling WOW I am impressed

Also on further review, that extra hit was NOT what got McNabbs ribs, it was THE shoe tackle, he landed on his own ribs before the hit. ESPN report

You're right about that but having a linebacker pile on after the fact didn't help any!

SB I know you will ALWAYS be an EAGLES fan, but if McNabb went somewhere else wouldn't you root hard for that guy. I know I would.

What's going to be interesting is who we sign to come back. I can't wait for Terrell Owens to wear an Eagle jersey.

We need a big, physical playmaker from California (BigWave

) to join the team.

But Vincent, Taylor, Emmons, Staley (at least 2 of them will probably be gone)...I can't wait to see what the brass does with them (Staley is as good as gone with Westbrook coming back...let's see what they do with the defense).

sportsbet if nothing else you are one loyal guy. Best of luck in the super bowl.
It would be nice to end this football season with a win. I'll be looking for your take on the big game . later

WC from 1980-2001 we were pretty much a doormat (with a little taste of playoffs in the Reggie White/Clyde Simmons/Jerome Brown/Randall Cunningham days) so you can't help but stand by your SIGH Eagles when you live in this town. Though it's not easy after 3 years of this.

Good luck in the big game...

As far as Terrell fitting there, he sure would. But Philly has had WR problems for several years right now, and have refused to address this obvious deficiency.

Will this performance make them address this need? Hard to say, but a stubborn man like Reid is unlikely to change.
