Just a question for the forum in general........do you and if you do, when do you buy the half point? Like today, it could of helped a lot of people with the pushes!

I try to get off of 3 and 7 in the NFL. In college where I bet most of the time I don't think it's as valuable (at least in the time I've spent betting it).

Buy it if you can. The lines are rather sharp today.

I used to think it was a bad idea to buy the half point. However, i started doing it this year and i can honestly say it has made a world of difference. For example yesterday i had uconn -6.5 (bought the hook) and won on a last second TD.

If you go through all of the games each week plenty of games are decided in and around the "number." However, the only points i buy are in and around 3-4, 7 and 10. Otherwise i dont see the value.

However, i do not simply buy the half point every time the line is around 3,4,7 or 10. I usually use other factors to determine if i think that half point will matter. On a whole, i use it more in the pro's because the pros tend to land on the number at a higher percentage.

it would be nice if someone had some statistics to see if the NFL or NCAA had more games land on the number.

I buy to get it to 3 pts. I usually invest more by buying pts. in games where I feel could be tight. Ex, I bought the Dallas game to -3 and I won, where most people pushed. Sometimes it pays not to be tight. Basic economics, you have to spend money to make money. This is my take on the issue.

Depends on what they charge you but generally 3 and 7 are the only two numbers ever worth it. Try and not lay 3.5 points if you can help it, if I can't get -3 than I don't play it. By the same token when you can get +3.5 that is great for you. The 3 is huge in the NFL. Also if you are getting +6.5 it is worth it to pay 10 cents to get +7. To be buying off and on other numbers even if you hit one now and then will cost you in the long run. Better to increase your outs so you can shop for better numbers than spending money buying off nonkey numbers.

I wrote something I copied from someone else I will post here if I can find it that talks about this more.

Try to buy on or off of 3. If you are not paying ridiculous juice, it will pay off in the long run.
