You wanna go 9-7 next year?

I guess losing in the playoffs as an underdogs beats choking as a favorite
Saints would not go 9-7 with a healthy Jimmy G

He doesn't make the Saints any better -- that's for damn sure. Probably makes them a little worse

And is that going to solve their issue of melting in playoff situations? I'd almost rather underperform in the regular season and then hope to get hot at the right time. This favorite thing just isn't working

Bingo...

Jimmy G and his wet noodle arm isn’t gonna do anything to help anyone...

Chop's an honorable man, that outweighs everything else around here

But can we admit this much, SF paid this guy way too much money and Belichick was right about not giving him that crazy money

Right now I'd take Taysum Hill on the Pats way before Jimmy G.

Hell, I'd even like to see Belichick try to get some passing discipline into James Winston before taking Jimmy G back here.

I have no interest in seeing Jimmy G in Foxboro.

Why all the Jimmy G hate?
He’s one pass short of winning the Super Bowl and SF hasn’t done jack shit without him

I don't "hate" Jimmy G. I just think he's no more than your average NFL QB.

I'd rather take my shot with the two guys on your roster right now. I think each of them has a higher upside than JG.

Yeah, he's done OK in SF when he plays but Shanahan probably #1 playcaller in the league, pro bowl tight end. He had Ryan playing at an MVP level. Jimmy is always hurt too.

Stuff changes fast in the NFL but Jimmy just kinda is what he is. NE won the superbowl in 2018 with Brady so he made the right decision. Would've contended in 2019 too if the roster didn't crash and burn on offensive side of the ball. Superbowls tough to come by.

His contract is far from crazy by today’s standards .

Im about to blow your mind and just about everyone else’s mind on this forum with what I’m about to say.

I don’t want this to sound disrespectful .

Brees is my all time personal GOAT. Best thing to happen to the saints ever .

But here is the secret .

Brees has not been a top 15 QB in about 2.5 years .

Yes not top 15.

At this point yes Jimmy G is a better QB then Drew Brees.

I think a lot of people underestimate the saints talent level 2 to 53.

Its so damn good that a lot of people default think Brees is still a top tier QB.

Hes not .

Somehow Brady is older then Brees and somehow he’s been able to delay Father Time much better then Brees .

Father time has not been so lucky to Brees .

My mistake in this now over 5 year old thread is my underestimation that a 43.5 year old QB would be able to play at a high level.

Well I had all of the history of football as a database to make this assumption .

Tom Brady is exactly the 1st QB in NFL history to be good at 43.5 years old .
Heck Hes the first QB in NFL history to be good after age 41.

How was I supposed to know he would buck every trend in NFL history ?

He was 37 at the time of this thread .

You know back when 37 was old?

Eh not sure you could say Jimmy G is better than Brees. Brees is far from top tier but still in that above average tier, which would make him better than Jimmy G -- who is definitively not a top 15 QB

Most people argree the Saints have a very deep and talented roster. I guess if your angle is bringing in an average QB to lead a talented roster, then I guess do it. But why not go after better available QB options?

Having all that talent hasn't meant much in the playoffs.

No one was supposed to know he would buck every trend in NFL history, but most people would agree that if anyone did.....that it would be Tom Brady. He is the greatest QB who ever lived, by a lot.

I guess it's fair to expect slippage, but Brady never really showed signs of slowing down much.
