Why couldnt we lift the Sarbanes-Oxley act for sub-prime? Wouldnt this fix alot of the problems these banks are facing. Because these papers that they are trying to sell have no value but the homes that the paper represents still holds a hell of alot more value than 20 cents on the dollar. You seem like a intelligent guy on this subject. Also going to a 15 percent tax across the board for corporations and keep the capital gains tax at 15. Could you explain why this wouldnt work?

i ain't no policy maker this is a humongous shit storm i really don't think any policy can fix things near term....i just follow the action and try to predict how their actions will affect the marketplace.....

prices just need to fall period....no government policy is gonna stop that fact......all we can do is fight that trend by throwing more debt at the problem which will lead to more long term problems

long term after the system flushes itself the solution is pretty simple

sound money, low taxes, slash government spending, family values and the consumer saving for their future well being of their own family....

its pretty simple fiscal conservatism on main street, government and wall street....

that's what allowed us to boom from post great depression to 2000....the depression kids who saw what happens first hand when you spend beyond your means.....had family values, worked hard, pinched pennies, and invested hard and everybody gained a little bit at a time at stead clip......on the other hand fiscal liberalism which took off amongst the baby boomers that has built up along the way since than has put us in this predicament

I completely agree with you on the fiscal conservative part. How low do you think the market needs to drop to put us back in line

we need some major pain and for debtors to learn their lesson big time

government continues to try to avoid that and promote handouts and socialism which could ultimately kill our republic and over time turn us into some sort of fascist commie state......

as for amount of pain we need alot of it....

its just a question of how long government can put it off....and how much power than can snatch from us before that inevitable day of pain

only thing the normal joe can really do to stop this viscous cycle is become fiscal conservatives at home

well that along with getting politically active and getting average joe fiscal conservatives along the lines of ron paul in congress....

stop buying shit you don't need, don't take on debt unless its necessary, pinch pennies.....save for your future....

government can't save you....only you can....

Can you explain how a deflationist point of view would come to fruition in this market

Can you explain how a deflationist point of view would come to fruition in this market

Stocks = going down in value
Housing = going down in value
Oil = going down in value
other commidities = going down in value

In the short term the dollar has gone up against other major currencies

well its coming to fruition right now

like C-gold said you are seeing all of the above currently.....

deflation comes about due to massive debt collapse and due to all the leverage that was built up there is an astounding amount of it collapsing

all they are doing to date from bear stearns, to FNM/FRE, to AIG, to the bailout bill are just trying to unwind all this leverage at a more subdued pace and not let the lehman brothers CDS (credit default swaps) explosion scenerio happen

the only real inflationary policy to date since this mess started was the government stimulus check

as that had direct affect on the market place and allows people to spend money they currently dont' have...and since we have a deficit vs. a surplus...handing us a check is just adding more debt for a future date

also the housing bill to some extent...i read that FHA is now considered the new subprime for many mortgage brokers....so that is trying to help inflate things....but its like shooting a garden hose of inflation at a 5 alarm fire of deflation.......

Lol. I do fairly well running my business. I believe also in self teaching and informing yourself. I have learned more in the last ten years of my life self education than I learned in college. Most of the shit they taught in college was so irrelevant to what I do. College got me a piece of paper and piece of arse but that is about it.

agree totally horns

everything you see here is all on my own initiative....you can learn so much more and better on your own.....

only had 1 economics class in my lifetime

and most economics books and they way they are taught are full of nonsense as well :)

we are economically dumbed down and stupified in that area for a reason.....so those in know can gain more power....economics runs the show....and why i'm so interested in it....has the most impact on what happens in the world around you.....

honestly school in some ways can do more harm than good....if you aren't willing to question what you are being taught....

A lot of the liberal majors are just a bunch of crap. It is a giant series of book reports and "opinions".

Not the sciences. Not math. In Econ you have the bastics that are fact, policy can be argued etc., but a lot of it you can't argue with.

All of this crap about studying the watootoo tribe in the south pacific is a waste of time and money and a breeding ground for future socialists.

not even science is fact

the world used to be flat :)

the smallest particle used to be a electron, now its a quark....might have found some smaller subatomic particle now i'm not sure...

einstein your avatar was just a little less ignorant than your average joe if you are looking at the grand universal scale of ignorance :)

the last thing tiz is gonna claim is that he knows everything just trying to become a little less ignorant that's all

and most things you "know" are in the end based on probabilities...not fact....

i'm a big chaos theory guy

OK, if you want to play Philosphy then nothing is fact. If you want to play philosopher then I believe it was Descartes that said there is only 1 positive thing true in the entire universe...

" I think, therefore I am". The fact that I think, means that I exist.
