Get Arne Lang's opinion on what to do with the NIT Tourney by going to the "new" RX home page at www.theprescription.com

Don't forget, you can also get in-progress scores on all the major sports by also going to the RX home page (right nav bar about halfway down) and choosing the red square that says "Live scores, click here to activate"

It will take a few seconds to activate and then the Ticker will appear on the screen. You can the choose any sport you wish. (Great during the upcoming baseball season!)

I remember the 1965 NCAA consolation game between Whichita St. and Princeton. Bill Bradley scored around 58 points in the game, after having a monster game in a losing cause vs. Michigan and Jazzie Cassie Russell in the semis. The NIT makes money in the early rounds by playing in places like U. of Minnesota and other sites where the local CBB team is the only game in town. Games like Marquette at Iowa St. over 14,000 and Hawaii at Michigan over 10,000 fans in the seats keep the tourney alive.

in 1991 i went to the post-season finale and pre-season semis.

i will NEVER forget the post-season finale - since it involved oklahoma. at half-time the OU cheerleaders came out to do their thang. they were in SKIN TIGHT outfits and all pranced around a folding chair they brought out. i've never seen that many guys pay so much attention to a halftime show. keep in mind there was at least a few feet of space between the guys - because...well, i think we know why.

i also sat about 5 rows from the court since i got the tix from espn - and sat like 1 seat over from former espn employee (and current wife of detroit tiggers prez - dave dumbrowki) karie ross - who in her days - was "H.I.P." material if there ever was such a thing.

Do away with it? The more games the better I always thought.

Why would you do away with Hockey? The NHL is gonna do it all by themselves this offseason.

The NIT is playing for #66...

If they wanted the NIT to matter they should get rid of all of these dopey preseason tourneys and expand the preseason NIT to include 32 top teams and have that as "THE" NIT.

I will admit that I have no idea how many teams the currnt preseason NIT currently has. If it is 32 then expand it to 64. Just gimme more games to lose $ on.

I predict the NHL will have exactly what they had in the strike shortened year. No real need to play 82 games anyways. They will come to some compromise that is nothing near the hardball stands the owners or players are making. The players will accept some soft cap, the owners will accept that the big spenders can continue doing that. In hockey every decent team makes the playoffs, yet the biggest spending team or the best regular season team are often losers along the way. You can't spend yourself to a championship always in the NHL and that will be the point that keeps this from being a couple year shutdown as some are predicting.

I wouldn't lose any sleep if they did. Just more of the same, but I guess more games are ok if that is what the majority want.
